Hotel room in need of renovation. Carpets uneven worn and not so clean. Bathroom door badly worn and exposed to damp from shower. Woodwork poor in bathroom.

The hotel staff were so helpful before and during our stay, the rooms were very spacious and clean. Checkout/checking in was so simple and easy. Spa was definitely worth it and great price for what was available. Only a 10 minute drive from city centre and ubers into the centre were super cheap so great location. Made it a very special trip with add ons for our room upon arrival also :))

Decent Hotel, staff very welcoming. Rooms a little tatty around the edges if you look, but perfectly fine - apart from one major failing. The mirrors in the bathroom are heated (to de-mist) but they are constantly on, at a very high level, with seemingly no way of turning them off. This leads to the bathroom becoming a sauna, an uncomfortably hot sauna, at all times. In turn the room is very warm, the window does nothing for air flow and so you have to use the very noisy air con. The energy being wasted here is unfathomable, and cannot help room prices (on the high side already). Additionally, the hot water is unbelievably hot, to the point that if you had small children you'd very easily run the risk of scalding or worse. Why does it need to be SO hot?

The outside of the hotel was beautiful. The car parking facilities excellent. Our hotel room was amazing - I think it was newly refurbished as it smelled like new carpet when we walked in. We were in room 2 and it was so convenient. We didn’t use the bar or restaurant but it did look lovely. We did use the spa for a treatment (massage) which was so relaxing. The spa area was nice but needed a bit of a refurb in areas - just looked a bit grubby and the lift wasn’t working. Luckily we didn’t need to use it but there would have been no way for those who did to use the spa area. Only real negative was being so close to the reception area there was quite a bit of noise late at night which is unacceptable - this should have been curbed by staff straightaway. I’d definitely stay again should I need accommodation in the area.

Room was very spacious and clean. This is the only good thing about the stay. Paid £300 non refundable for one night stay for a family room. Booked the hotel as i thought we could use the pool the next morning only to find out that under 16 cannot use the pool and if adults wanted to use the pool, they would have to pay an additional £20 each on top of the £300!! Very misleading selling family rooms and advertising spa but families are unable to use the facilities!! Usually pools would have a certain ‘family time swim’ but not this one. Apparantly i was told via email but this would have been too late anyway as it was non refundable! NEED to advertise as ‘adult only pool’ on the website so that you dont have to click into ‘spa policies’ to find this information!! Promised welcome cookies for kids on arrival which never arrived! Glass of apple juice (from a £0.40p box carton) was £4.60!!! Breakfast kept running out of food and slow being replaced so had to keep watching and getting up from your table when food was replenished. Not at all relaxing. Would not recommend for families at all. Over priced and over rated! Will definitely not be staying again!

A good large hotel in pleasant quiet surroundings situated on the edge of Chester centre which can be reached by taxi. (Reception advised against taking a bus as was an unreliable service!? )The room was basic but adequate for our 3 night stay. Room service did not replenish the tea tray nor were there any biscuits left throughout our stay. Reception staff were friendly but couldn’t supply us with a tourist map of Chester. The restaurant was really good over looking the gardens and served a good choice for breakfast. Unfortunately the spa and pool cost £20 a day to access. We visited on a bank holiday leaving on the Tuesday morning which was just as well as at 8.30 we were woken to the sound of drilling and hammering as building work resumed. Overall a bit pricy for what we got.

Lovely hotel in glorious grounds. It was pleasant to stroll around the gardens. We stayed 2 nights as we were attending a wedding in the area. Unfortunately there were renovations happening so a bit chaotic and noisy during the day. Also bad for us as the wedding was Friday lunchtime and we were informed by the hotel the electricity would be off for an hour from 12 to 1pm. The water was also off which was a bit of a nuisance. Normally we would have been out and about anyway so wouldn’t have noticed. Just bad timing really. Bins were emptied but milk not replaced so unable to wake up to morning coffee. A pleasant hotel, close to Chester on a main bus route.

Overall good. Slight gripe with the spa, paying for 2 hours when you get 1.5 and some facilities closed seems a little unreasonable. Welcome cookie a lovely touch. Breakfast was ok, but there was alot missing that wasn’t being topped up to meet demand.

Room was ok but it was situated right beside double doors and the room shuddered every time this door was left to bang shut! Didnt like the fact we had to pay extra to use the swimming pool this should be included in the price of the room. Food was excellent but drinks very expensive.

Loved the hotel and staff were great. My only gripe is after booking a non-refundable room, the hotel contacted to stay that we would have to pay a further £20 per person should we will to use the pool! I could understand if we wanted to treatments but surely guests should have access to the pool during certain hours if staying at the hotel!
