This is a charming, characterful, historic hotel that marries its long history with the modern world perfectly. The rooms are spacious, clean, modern, and provide excellent amenities. The beds are comfortable and the bath/shower, towels, etc most satisfactory. The common areas, bar, restaurant, and pub are good. Table service for all meals could have been a bit better, but was not a major fault. Where this hotel really lets itself down is the breakfast. You have to book at time, which is understandable given the limited space in the dining room. Breakfast is entirely table service with the exception of juices. If you want anything from a coffee machine, you must pay extra, but you may have a pot of cafetière coffee - fine. There are several hot breakfasts on the menu, and you may have toast. However, if hot and greasy doesn’t excite you, and you prefer yoghurts, fruits, mueslis, etc., prepare to be disappointed. There is one thing only on the menu with yoghurt: a granola mango purée pot. Fruit would come in the guise of the only fruit salad on the menu: melon, orange, and tinned pineapple. The quality of the hot breakfast was not special - just adequate. As breakfast is such an important part of a day when you are away from home, and not finding a decent basic spread can mean the difference between starting the day motivated and starting in dismayed, I am forced to dock some points in my review.

Room like a sauna, small window in bedroom, no window in ensuite… still in May!

The team were very friendly. The restaurant staff were exceptional. The food over dinner was excellent but breakfast was exceptional. It was a very long trek to the rooms but the team offered help with the luggage. Everywhere was very clean.

Hotel room have beautiful sea view and breakfast is simple but delicious. Walking around 10 minutes to high street. Hotel location is good for regional scenic places. Around 1.5 hours driving distance. Staffing is helpful.

Very good breakfast menu and loved the fact it was table service. The staff were excellent, despite it being busy in the morning and they were obviously run off their feet. The room was clean, lovely view and fresh milk and bottled water brought up when requested. We ate in the restaurant in the evening - again, a good menu and staff were excellent. A thoroughly enjiyable stay.

Lovely hotel in superb position and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. However we are blue badge holders with limited mobility and although there were a number of disabled parking places all these had been pre-booked and occupied by diners. Whilst we were able to leave our car in a disabled space on the first evening we were directed to the underground car park on the Sunday. Unfortunately it was almost full but we managed to literally squeeze into one of the last two spaces. This was disappointing having paid a significant amount to stay particularly after being told that we could park on double yellow lines on the main road, not really helpful. Perhaps the hotel needs to review its policy.

This place is a quality establishment, and after staying i would endorse the belief that this place sets the Standard for all other hotels i will visit in the future. Food excellent, Internet excellent, toiletries luxury, beds very comfortable. The most important aspects of this place is the staff and the view! Both exemplary
