Our 2-night stay at the Star Hotel was very comfortable. The staff was hospitable and friendly. Our room was clean and spacious. We slept well and enjoyed a nice breakfast each morning and had a relaxing time in the bar each night. The desk staff and the lady bartender was very nice. It was a real treat.

The hotel is clean and friendly although the reasonable price is reflected in the fact that it is stuck in the 1980s, with poor wardrobes and rough shower room finishes. It was perfect for a quick overnight stay and is very centrally situated.

I didn’t have time to stay for Breakfast but it looked amazing. Staff were friendly and helpful. The building is a delightful example of a traditional coaching house and in perfect location to explore the area and attractions. My room was cosy and comfortable with everything I needed. Will definitely try and book here again next time I have an event to attend in the area.

First room Appeared ok but very noisy from the road so requested a move if possible. After going out for the day The receptionist had offered me a room and said he would transfer my suitcase etc to new room . After a fiasco of going to room 21 No suitcase found . After confusion He said my case was poss still in old room , He gave me a pass key to open . I asked if the room had been re booked for any one else he said no . I use key only to find partially naked guy now I’m annoyed . Again another visit to reception to a sorry ! Then he gave me room at rear, where my case was found . This room was quieter but just over 3 meters wide ! With bed that squeaks as you move ! I understand the hotel is old . And can accept old windows as grade 2 building , But the lack of basic quality items like a decent bed is a poor show .On top of that I bought a breakfast for first day , how long the bacon and eggs had been there is questionable! Otherwise great location.

When you consider that the hotel started its life as a coaching house in the 1840s it is nigh on 200 years old! It is quirky and still has the feel of buildings that were designed at the time - it has great character, is very comfortable and ideally situated in the city centre. The management clearly take a lot of pride in the hotel. Great place.

Room was what we needed it for, just a stop over for the football. Clean, tea, coffee, clean towels, shampoo, soap and shower gel supplied. Staff were all lovely. Super helpful and friendly.

The room was huge with 2 double beds. Bathroom spacious and clean. However, the people upstairs, really? All blooming night, up down up down and headboard banging type noise. In the end, I shouted up, "Will you just finish your shag so we can sleep"

Outstanding, gracious service. Lovely vintage hotel. Great bar onsite; great restaurant choices right out the door. Such an enjoyable stay before leaving on our cruise!

Just the best location if you plan to have a Southampton visit. Rooms clean, service fine, just worth choosing if you need to be close to the high street or the ferry or indeed the cruise
