I had a great experience at Mercure over the weekend. The staff were extremely polite and professional, and the room was clean and comfortable. There was also a 'Hydration station' where visitors could get ice cold lemon water at reception which was perfect in this heat! The only issue I experienced was that the air conditioning in the room was not working very well, which was difficult in the heat. I also wanted to give a special mention to the night receptionist, Marvellous, who was exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and accommodating during my stay. He went out of his way to make sure everything was okay and was always approachable and positive whenever I spoke with him. His excellent customer service really stood out and made a genuine difference to my experience. Overall, I would definitely stay again. Thanks a lot! :)

The staff and the chef were very kind and welcoming. Our rooms air conditioning didn’t work and we were very hot. But the staff gave us fans to make the room cooler and gave us multiple options to try help. The bedsheet were dirty and had stains, there was a cleaning cloth and a dirty pillowcase in our room for over 2 days we had to remove it ourselves.

Not particularly a great experience, even being loyality card holder (20yrs+!). Staff not very helpful even providing basic alternative options not offered. Booked 3 rooms weeks in advance and found AC not working in one room and a window not openable on the 3rd floor. Staff response - waiting for a spare part (window or AC??)

The King room I stayed in was very good. The bed was a little hard, but that's my preference. The food was really good. Breakfast was OK. Only issue I had was the shipping container yard behind the hotel. They were working all night with a noisy forklift truck. Together with the hard bed, I had trouble sleeping. Everything else was good. Staff were lovely. Room was clean and spacious. Shame about the noise.

1 Star – Shockingly Poor Stay at Mercure Sheffield Parkway Stayed here for two weeks, and while the location is great, everything else about the experience was genuinely shocking. Cleanliness was practically non‑existent. • Housekeeping repeatedly replaced only one towel, meaning I had to call reception multiple times just to get a second one. • The bathroom drinking glasses were NEVER changed once in the entire two‑week stay. The paper coasters didn’t move at all, which tells you exactly how little the room was cleaned. • Several times the tea mugs weren’t cleaned or replaced. • The carpet clearly wasn’t vacuumed regularly—you could see residues from the night before, and we ended up cleaning parts of it ourselves. • On top of that, we noticed Tiny Bugs on the curtains on more than one occasion. Also they did not replace hand soap in the bathroom so on the last day we ended up without soap and had to use shower gel as hand soap. Service was just as disappointing. Having to chase basic essentials like towels is unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one under the Mercure brand. Overall, this was one of the worst hotel stays I’ve ever experienced. The lack of cleanliness and poor service made it extremely uncomfortable. It honestly felt like the room wasn’t cleaned at all during the entire stay. Would not recommend until they seriously improve their housekeeping and service standards.
