Beautifully decorated hotel with charming helpful staff. Good location apart from road noise from the junction. The bed was comfortable but some details were lacking such as no non slip bath mat & the tea/ coffee/ milk not restocked on our arrival. Our room seemed to have alot of flies for some reason despite the window being closed. The buffet breakfast was adequate but a little uninspiring. If we had stayed longer than one night we would have raised these issues with staff. Overall, a nice hotel.

This is a charming hotel with a fun personality. The lobby is full of eye-catching artwork and quirky design touches, and the dining room is pleasant as well. Unfortunately, everything else seems to have been designed on a very small scale. The hallways are narrow, the stairways even narrower, and the rooms are tiny—truly tiny. There is nowhere to sit, no good place to change clothes or apply makeup, and no full-length mirror. Americans accustomed to average-sized hotel rooms will be shocked. A solo traveler might manage fine, but couples will find things cramped, and families with luggage will have serious challenges. Avoid the fourth floor if possible. The sloping roof means the hallways and rooms angle inward, creating a slightly claustrophobic feeling. I actually took photos to prove to friends back home that I wasn't imagining it—the walls really do lean in. Even our bed's headboard followed the angle. This hotel would make a fantastic movie set with its cool lighting and artistic vibe, but when it comes to comfort and convenience, style won out over practicality. Cute? Absolutely. Comfortable? Not unless you're a Hobbit with no luggage.

Nicely styled hotel and very convenient location. I stayed in a classic room which looked nice but had some impracticalities. The temperature can not be controlled from inside the room and was set too warm for me. The reception staff adjusted this for me, but it only seemed to stay at the requested temperature for a few hours before climbing up again. This meant I couldn’t sleep, so affected my stay. The only full-length mirror faces the bed and leaves about 10cm in which to stand so is completely pointless and inaccessible. The luggage stand was broken when I arrived, but replaced when I pointed it out. However most toiletries were near empty and had to be shaken out of the bottles. Not unpleasant but some easy fixes.

We highly recommend staying at the Selwyn. It’s located in walking distance of great shops, restaurants, and all Richmond’s highlights (including the train station). It’s a beautiful boutique hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Also, close for a day trip to Hampton Court.

The Selwyn was a short walk to both the train line and Richmond Landing. It also offered an excellent breakfast with many choices.

Everything was really great about this hotel, including the close proximity to town. The only downside was that our room was SUPER small. We reserved the basic room and did not even ask for a larger room because we were not ready to pay more for a larger room. We would certainly consider staying there again, but we would need to be prepared to book a larger room. Be sure to check the square footage of the room. But everything else was really amazing.

We stayed in one of the small cabin rooms for one night. It is certainly cozy, but had everything needed, was nicely appointed and very comfortable. On an unusually warm day, the AC was quiet and cold as well. Breakfast was wonderful, and staff prompt and courteous. Very nicely maintained property, would recommend and stay again if back in Richmond.

All really good except a heads up on room 307 size would have been nice. Will book again.

Beautiful period building, nicely decorated. Friendly and helpful staff. Given this is an old English building you have to expect small rooms but be aware the rooms truly are tiny. We were originally in what looks to be the smallest room in the hotel and you couldn’t really walk down both sides of the bed, there was one hangar standing in for the wardrobe. We managed to upgrade to a larger room which was beautifully appointed but very snug.

They had a great hot breakfast included in the room rate which we really enjoyed. The location was less then 10 minute walk to the train station and many options for dinner.

Small but perfectly clean and tidy rooms. Great breakfast and helpful, friendly staff. Could do with better wardrobe facilities and bedside cabinets. Parking very tight and staff can’t drive to move blocking cars! I’d take the train as the station is not far.
