This hotel is in a great location, right on the beach, close to lots of restaurants and shoppes. There are games to play in the lobby, which is fun. The only issue I had was that it is a smoke-free property however there were clearly people smoking on our floor, which made our stay less comfortable. Also, in the lobby, they would leave the sliding door open and people would stand right in the entry way and smoke constantly, making the entire lobby, including the bar and games area super smoky, which we found off-putting and nauseating. Unfortunately, the smoking everywhere was the one negative of our experience.

Spent three wonderful days in the hotel

The Upstairs hotel was a very stylish and fun hotel just steps from the beach. The staff was really friendly and helpful! One small point is if you do book one of the small/cheap rooms, they aren't easily accessible via the lifts. You will need to go down a couple of flights of stairs which can be tough with heavy luggage. Otherwise I highly recommend this hotel when staying in Ostend!

Great place

I booked at noon for the night. One hour later I receive a call that my payment was refused... In the train there was nothing I could do apart of paying at arrival... At the check in I had to pay 30 euro more... For a room where the shower is switching on every 5 minutes and a TV that switches off at the same pace... And to finish I be been awaken by a crazy cleaning machine ... What a hell

Really cool place, right next to the beach. Lovely bar area and.very comfortable rooms with everything you need. We had 2 rooms for a business trip and will definitely stay here again.

Very clean room, very good facilities

I did not like to wait for the lift which was taken over by cleaners when demand was high for breakfast. Cleaners equipment should not be in lifts at high demand times

I was able to book my room extremely last minute, and the price was amazing and when I got to the room, it was gorgeous with two balconies on the very top floor. I could not be happier with this booking. I would’ve stayed the whole week if I knew about it earlier.

A nice hotel very close to the beach. As a previous reviewer said, it has a contemporary industrial feel to it (think black metal shelving & concrete grey industrial vibes) but with yellow pops of color (towels and toiletries). There is a large yellow children’s slide in the lower lobby area that seemed to be a big hit w/ families. Positives: —Friendly and helpful front desk —Very convenient location— many restaurants nearby and a supermarket one block over. —Breakfast was great, would recommend—make sure to tell the front desk the night before if you plan to have breakfast in the hotel. —No parking attached to the hotel but ample paid parking just around the corner, approximately 25 Euro’s per 24 hours, which is fairly normal for secure and centrally located parking in major European cities. Minor Downsides: —Cleaning could have been a little better— some dust on the shelving that stood out on the black shelving, but nothing major. —There is no telephone in the room (which can be a hassle if you need to get in touch w/ the front desk) —There is no coffee machine or hot water kettle to make a cup of coffee or tea, so plan ahead if that is important to you. Overall a nice place to stay— would recommend for the quick access to the beach, friendly vibe, and great breakfast.

Hotel is quite new so everything was still new. The room was very spacious but the bed was not very comfortable. Note that there is a fridge but no coffee n tea facilities. Breakfast was worth it with a good variety. The slide was fun for my 5year old kid. The location is near the beach.

This was a wonderful find. Only stayed one night but would happily stay longer. The rooms are pretty basic but impressively decorated. The bathroom is functional with a great shower. Beds were comfortable. Loved the interior decor, and fun layout, had a contemporary industrial feel, lots of fun, including indoor slide. Staff really helpful and friend and spoke English. Didn’t stay for breakfast but had a peak and looked impressive. Parking can be expensive but arriving late, found a street parking spot nearby and by leaving before 9am, parking was free. (Park after 9pm, leave before 9am) Met the owner who was really nice and tried his fantastic Van Bulck organic beer! Location is twenty yards from beach and not much further to town centre.

Nice hotel in a great location and with very friendly service. The room we got was comfy but a bit dark and had no direct access via the elevator so in case of heavy luggage not the best option.

Parking was not included and the it was suggested by the front desk that we park a mile away for free parking.

Great location for us as we were attending a concert at the nearby theatre (4 minute walk). Sea front and bars all within a few minutes walk. Staff fantastic - helpful kind and cheerful

Loved the decor and common areas, very trendy place and brilliant location and price for our stay, but our room was missing aircon, we did not sleep well due to the temperatures. Also the wifi at the hotel was intermittent, luckily I managed to get on long enough to check in for my flight home so didnt have to complain at reception. I have to say the reception staff were a little unfriendly and disinterested when we encountered them so glad not much interaction was required...

Sparse no frills but spacious rooms and quiet. Concrete floors and black ceilings made lighting too dim. No phone or safe in room. Perfect location, next to seaside. Staff very friendly. Comfortable and pleasant lobby space.

Fantastic value for money. Central location. Friendly staff. Great breakfast. Dont be put off by the pictures on line. I have stayed at more expensive hotels in ostende this was the best
