-About the Spots-

Experience Nature at Rokko Shidare Observatory

The striking observatory is located in the Rokko Garden Terrace area. It was designed by architect Hiroshi Sanbuichi with the concept that "buildings are part of the Earth." Here, you can enjoy splendid views of Kobe and Osaka and feel the energy of Mt. Rokko's nature and how it changes according to seasonal cycles.

Mt. Rokko's Artistic Light Show

This event expresses the four seasons of Mt. Rokko through illumination. Directed by artist Masayuki Fushimi, it mimics natural light utilizing cutting-edge LEDs that can render more than ten million colors. Take in this fantastic light show alongside the gorgeous night view.

The striking observatory is one of the most panoramic spots in Japan. See Awaji Island and the Osaka plain, all the way to Kansai Airport.

Built with carefully selected hinoki from Yoshino in Nara Prefecture, the observatory is filled with the gentle scent of cypress.

Mt. Rokko's Artistic Light Show

This event bathes the frame covering the observatory with synthesized natural light, utilizing cutting-edge LEDs that can render more than ten million colors.

The observatory in winter.

The median temperature at Mt. Rokko is roughly that of southern Hokkaido, and when the humidity, temperature, and wind conditions match, you can see frost and icicles covering the hinoki wood frame.

Enjoy a splendid night view of Kobe.

Explore the restaurants and shops in Rokko Garden Terrace outside the observatory.
