Desaru Coast is home to an interesting array of birds, with a recorded number of over 100 species and offering a broad range including garden varieties, forest edge birds, water birds, and shorebirds (especially during the migratory season between November and March).

Watch out for the colourful Blue-winged Pitta, Crimson Sunbird, Blue-tailed Bee-eater, the charismatic Oriental Pied Hornbill, the Osprey, Black-shouldered Kite, White-bellied Sea Eagle, Brahminy Kite, Cinnamon-headed Green Pigeon, Thick-billed Green Pigeon, Whistling Duck, Stork-billed Kingfisher, Collared Kingfisher, White Throated Kingfisher, and many more.
