1. Mae Kampong Village

15. Doi Inthanon

The tallest hill in Thailand. Doi Inthanon is the most important landmark of the city. There are a lot of places to visit on this Doi Inthanon. You can choose to walk on a trail and explore nature or visit the temple and look at the amazing 360-degree landscape.

16. Grand Pagoda Nabhapolbhumisiri

After witnessing the amazing landscape on Doi Inthanon, you can move to Grand Pagoda Nabhapolbhumisiri which is in Doi Inthanon area. The pagoda is made for the previous King and Queen. Inside, there is a Buddhist statue made of green and grey Granite. While outside there are gardens with flowers, decorated nicely.

17. Doi Ang Khang

One of the places that is famous for its fascinating scenery. Wake up early to the scenic view of plants and flowers with sea fog in the morning. It is located in Fang district near the Myanmar border. There is also an agricultural research station here. Another highlight here is Prunus Cerasoides trees that will bloom pink flowers during winter. Be mesmerized with the landscape.

18. Doi Pui

If you don’t want to drive all the way on top of the hill then you can visit Doi Pui instead. It is located in Doi Suthep with flower fields and greenery forests. There is a local tribe living here with foods and souvenirs you can shop too.

19. Bhubing Palace

After visiting Doi Pui, during the way back you can take a stop at Bhubing Palace. A palace with more than 400 Rai, surrounded by gardens with flowers. Walking around and looking at flowers with interesting buildings and palaces. You will also find various and different kinds of rare flowers here that will only grow in cold weather like in the north.

20. Phra Tat Doi Suthep Temple

Even though the name is Doi (Hill), the location is not that hard to drive to. Just a half an hour away from Chiang Mai and you will arrive at the temple. It had been created with Lanna style so it’s unique and different from temples you might have seen in other parts. This hundred-year- old temple is important to the locals and Buddhism.

21. Royal Park Rajapruek

One of the most stunning parks in the province. More than 500 rai with gardens full of flowers. There are different zones of gardens of various types of flowers all over the world. It is used to hold the Flora Festival here as well. Walk around and visit green houses with beautiful and rare flowers.

22. San Kamphaeng Hot Springs

No need to go to Japan to visit hot springs but there are some springs in the north and in Chiang Mai too. About 30 kms from the city, the heat from the underground is 100 Celsius and the geyser could be up to 15 meters high. Dip in your feet or your whole body and relax with mineral waters that are good for your body.

23. Lung Det Tea Plantation

Apart from strawberry farms, you can also find tea plantations here in Chiang Mai too. This farm has changed and helped the local living around here to have a better life. Visit the farm and the café with delicious desserts – guarantee the ingredients, fresh from the farm!

24. Pha Chor

Pha Chor is in Mae Wang National Park. One of the grand canyon in Chiang Mai that was created from the nature. The erosion of wind and rain shape the rocks and cliffs into beautiful walls. Walk up to the viewpoint and get to explore the nature along the way.

25. Wat Chan Royal Project

A royal project was created by a previous King to help the locals around there and tribal people to gain money for a living. Lots of pine trees with a big reservoir as a landscape.

26. Grand Canyon

This famous canyon is not made by nature but actually from humans. It is located in Hang Dong district. There are activities for tourists to do here such as kayaking or jumping into water. But you need to be careful to avoid any accidents.

27. Queen Sirikit BotanicGarden

You can visit the botanic garden anytime during the year. The biggest botanic garden in Thailand and Asia. Various types of plants and flowers are here to explore and view. The highlight of this place is a skywalk, a greenhouse with tropical rainforest plants and a greenhouse with desert plants. The garden is quite big so you might need some time to walk around.

28. Umong Temple

A 700-year-old temple in Chiang Mai with a signature tunnel that you can walk through. There is a statue of Buddha at the end of the tunnel. The tunnel used to be for mediation but with a lot more visitors nowadays, they stop using it. If you visit Doi Suthep then you can visit this temple along the way too.

29. Bannkangwat

Drive past Umong Temple to find this community mall. A small community mall with lots of shops and restaurants. Have an ice-cream at the shop and then visit an art museum. There’s also a market with organic products and events on the weekends.

30. Angkaew Reservoir

Even though this reservoir is in Chiang Mai university, visitors and outsiders can go in and visit this place. You will meet lots of students here relaxing and chilling next to the lake. Take a break and inspect the life of the locals. A good atmosphere to sit with friends.
