Thailand ends Test & Go scheme! New Thailand entry rules and restrictions 2022

Starting on May 1st, 2022, Thailand’s Centre for COVID‐19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has announced to end the Test & Go scheme. So, international travelers or any visitors who are fully vaccinated and want to enter the country of Siam do not need to undergo a RT-PCR test before and upon arrival. However, visitors still need to register for a Thailand Pass before they fly in to Thailand. Once visitors have all documents required, they will be free to travel across the country once they arrive. After the Test and Go scheme is abolished on May 1st, 2022, the country and the tourism sector are expecting a boom back in business. Canceling Test & Go – New rules and restrictions

As mentioned earlier, Thailand will no longer require visitors who are fully vaccinated to undergo a RT-PCR test at arrival. Visitors will still need to apply for a Thailand Pass and provide proof of immunization/vaccination as well as a proof of insurance with COVID-19 coverage of at least USD 10,000. The CCSA also cut the 7 days home quarantine period for COVID-19 cases and those in close contact with them to 5 days, followed by another 5 days of self-health supervision and separation from others.

Even though, RT-PCR test and self ATK is not required for visitors to undergo before and upon arrival. But in case visitors have symptoms, fever or feel like they are not safe and want to get tested, it is their choice to either get an ATK test or not to take it before entering.

Pre-arrival requirements

1. Register for a Thailand Pass via https://tp.consular.go.th/

2. Passport or a border pass for arrivals via border checkpoints

3. An insurance with COVID-19 coverage of no less than USD 10,000

4. COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate

Step 1 – Travelers need to prepare the required documents as follows

- Travelers 18 years old and older must be fully vaccinated at least 14 days before traveling to Thailand

- Travelers 5 – 17 years old must get at least 1 dose of approved vaccine at least 14 days before traveling to Thailand

- Travelers that have infected COVID-19 before who have at least 1 dose of approved vaccine must have a medical certificate of COVID-19 recovery.

On arrival requirements

1.Upon arrival, travelers must undergo for an entry screening body check at the airport

2. Travelers must show a required documents stated above to the Immigration/Health Control officer

3. Travelers who are fully vaccinated will be allowed to enter Thailand and are free to go anywhere in Thailand.

For visitors who are not fully vaccinated or unvaccinated, who are not able to show a proof of a negative RT-PCR test result when applying for Thailand Pass within 72 hours of travel. Here is what they need to prepare and to follow:

1.Register for a Thailand Pass via https://tp.consular.go.th/

2. Passport or a border pass for arrivals via border checkpoints

3. An insurance with COVID-19 coverage of no less than USD 10,000

4. A proof of prepayment for 5 nights quarantine at government-approved hotels such as SHA Plus (SHA +) hotel, SHA Extra Plus (SHA++) hotel, or AQ Accommodation. Also, a prepayment for 1 RT-PCR test.

Thailand eases Bars and Restaurants restrictions

Moreover, not only will the Test & Go scheme be lifted, rules and restrictions for bars, pubs, karaoke shops and restaurants in Thailand will also be changed too. This is to extend drinking hours at pubs, bars and restaurants as to Covid's ease of control. Restaurants and bars will be free to sell alcohol until 12 a.m. or midnight, rather than 11 p.m. according to the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, which is a part of a statewide relaxation of Covid-19 rules. And all these will be effective starting on May 1st, 2022.

Thailand redesignates the control COVID-19 zones as follow:

Orange zones in 18 provinces to be yellow zones
Yellow zones would be rise from 47 provinces to 65 provinces
Blue zones will be increase from 10 provinces to be 12 provinces

Thailand’s new rules and restrictions will make it even easier for travelers and visitors to enter Thailand than before, if they are fully vaccinated.
