Good location and really friendly reception staff. We had a nice room overlooking the ocean. It was big and well equipped, with two huge comfy king beds. The HUGE pub underneath was really tacky but we didn’t hear any noise from it (it was out of the busy season) and I think it is quite popular.

I actually had a room facing Domino’s Pizza and parking lot. After travelling from Canada, and first being turned around from Sydney Airport to Proserpine, due to flooding, I was disappointed to have a view of the parking lot. The hotel ended up to be a great location, with friendly staff. I loved the access to restaurants from this hotel. The bed was comfortable. Overall, the hotel is a little dated.

The room was average - nothing special, although in a good location downtown. The views from the pictures in the booking are nothing like what we saw from our hotel room. The bed was comfortable, but we did have a bright purple light shining in from the building across that was visible even with the blinds shut. Our biggest challenge was the check-in with the airport transfer. There was confusion, and it seems like a technology issue, which happens and I can understand that. What was upsetting to my wife and I was the staff and the shuttle driver being rude to us. The shuttle driver was telling us we did not have a hotel reservation (not sure how he would know that). The woman checking us in said that we never talked to anyone from the hotel about an airport shuttle (in which case, I'm not sure how there would be a driver at the airport with our name, picking us up, and bringing us to the hotel). I also offered to explain and show the entire chat history on my phone taking place with staff from the Airlie Beach Hotel to arrange this transfer. This was challenging, as while trying to explain and answer their questions, I couldn't speak a full sentence without being interrupted. It got sorted, eventually, and it seemed like the shuttle driver blamed the hotel for not booking it properly, and the woman at the check-in apologized. But what an abrupt way to be "welcomed" to the hotel.

Friendly staff, clean room (every day we requested a room tidy due to cracker smashing toddlers and were pleased each time we returned if the arvo). The staff also went out of their way to fix our bathtub when the plug got stuck and wouldn’t drain. Excellent location for the lagoon, Whitehaven beach, multi playgrounds, cafes…

Carpet in the room was very old and dirty. The hotel is under major construction and the entire first floor is being renovated. Being on the second floor without prior notice when booking was extremely frustrating as the construction work started at 8:30am so don’t think about sleeping late.
