Crystalbrook was an absolute gem of an escape. Surrounded by beautiful nature and tranquil surroundings, it was the perfect place to unwind and recharge. The staff were exceptional throughout my stay, warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. A special mention to Hugh, whose charisma, kindness, and friendly nature made the experience even more memorable. He is an absolute sweetheart and a real asset to the team. The coffee was fabulous, the amenities were outstanding, and every detail seemed thoughtfully considered. From the moment I arrived, I felt relaxed and cared for. If I could have stayed forever, I would have. I can’t wait to return!

It is a beautiful location. Stunning pool and surrounds - unfortunately the condition of the timber walkways is a real concern. Crystalbrook Byron has to spend a lot of time and money to replace and make good these walkways, to lift their profile and compete in this retreat space.

After reading so many glowing reviews, I expected Crystalbrook Byron to be the relaxing luxury 5-star rainforest retreat it claims to be. Unfortunately, the reality never matched the promise. What disappointed me most was the gap between expectation and reality. A musty room with mould concerns, dust, spider webs, a shower that occasionally switched itself on, disrupted sleep and a room move were not what I expected from a property positioned and priced as a luxury retreat. I have photos of several of these issues. A few maintenance or cleanliness issues might not bother me in a 3-star property. At this level, however, guests are paying for attention to detail, proactive maintenance and an experience that feels genuinely cared for. Those standards were simply not met. To his credit, Hugh, the Front Office Manager, took the time to listen to my concerns. However, listening and delivering are not always the same thing, and the overall experience never recovered. Technically there was a rainforest. The tranquillity proved much harder to locate. As for the private beach that was advertised on the booking platform at the time of my stay, Hugh was still looking for it when I checked out. To their credit, the listing has since been updated, but it became a perfect illustration of the gap between expectation and reality that characterised the entire stay. After the first night, I was already looking forward to getting back home. Home is more restorative and a lot cheaper.

Very quiet and soothing though areas under construction/hoarded off so a bit make shift. Gym is not a resort gym, just a room and guest rooms furnished and decorated to basic not resort level. Menu was good and staff tried to be friendly. TVs had chrome cast which is always a bonus.

The venue itself is just beautiful. Clean spacious rooms. Hugh at reception exemplified what good service looks like. Attentive, warm, efficient. However my experience in the restaurant was disappointing. I arrived for lunch and found the menu quite limited…thats ok. Then the power went out..this was clearly outside of the venues control so whilst I was disappointed, it’s not their fault. However once I was seated, the waitress didn’t come back to take a drink order or anything. I sat at my table looking towards her..she was happily on her phone for about 5 minutes. Eventually another waitress realised I was being ignored so she came and served me. Told me that due to the power outage all they could offer were hot chips or green salad. Really? What about dips, cheese, platters? No, I was assured chips or green salad was it. So I ordered chips which came out looking a bit “twice cooked” and were nothing special. For me, a venue like this should be offering guests some kind of compensation for the power outage, even just a complimentary wine. Because whilst they can’t control the outage, they can still go the extra mile to ensure the customers disappointment is turned into pleasure. And by the way, there were only half a dozen customers in there so it would have been a small cost for a big gesture. Anyway for me, I will try somewhere else next time, purely because the restaurant experience was underwhelming.

Clean and tidy, requires some attention to detail in relation to cleaning ie external entry stairs and under bed. Minor issues … but overall, we would return.

The experience was rather ordinary. We stayed here when it was the Byron at Byron resort and had a wonderful stay. This time the lack of service and attention was notable. My complaint was handled reasonably well however there was another customers complaining at Reception when I checked out. My credit card was billed for dinner which we didn’t have there, the rooms were tired and the staff not attentive or interested. Given the price point I would’ve expected more.

Room well equips but windows very dirty. Staff bit clueless around how thing work in a hotel. Reserving tables at breakfast when no one turns up for them while other need to sit in poor locations is silly Agreed to hold account open to charge to but then it mistakenly gets shut off. Seems to lack management that knows how to run a hotel. Boardwalks rotten in places and dangerous and need to be repaired Shane to see what was a great hotel slide into this.
