The apartment was lovely. Plenty of room and plenty of amenities. Only downside was the shower curtain which had a huge amount of mould on it. It seemed out of place with an otherwise clean and modern unit. The windows have a day-time blind and a night -time one. There's definitely no chance of anyone seeing into the apartment at night. I found the washer/dryer combination a bit annoying. It takes ages to dry your clothes. They had a rail arrangement in the shower you could dry clothes on, but it was too high for me to reach. There is a small Woolworths down on the next corner which was great for freezer meals. Staff at check-in were lovely and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Great location - did find the checking in a bit hard due to all the noise on the street and had to make 3 phone calls before the door would open - found it difficult to hear the operators. Also to note the safe buttons (where our room key was located) were warn so very difficult to read.

This is a magnificent old building, centrally located, with a range of rooms. Unfortunately, the kitchen in my unit was thinly equipped, not even a single sachet of salt or pepper, and the cooking implements were greasy and needed to be washed before I could use them. The top two plates in the cupboard were also greasy.

The dustiest, cluttered hotel room we have every walked into. The air con was noisy and caked in dust. The walls we covered in an array of pictures and nic nacks that were greasey and dusty. The walls had dust hanging on them. We arrived late at night from an international flight and spent 3 hours cleaning the walls, air con, lights, windows, stains on the furniture. Put all the mostly burnt candles and clutter away. It was not like the photos. This was supposed to be a superior room, it was non refundable so had to stay for 5 nights.

Comfortable hotel which has everything you need, including washing machine, microwave etc. My only complaint is that a drill outside was going until 1.00am. Not sure if staff at Rothbury were aware of this. Staff pleasant and helpful. Would stay again as location and amenities outstanding.

Pros: Great location and well appointed room. Cons: The washing machine drain was completely blocked and I did the Rothbury the favour of cleaning it all out. It felt like years of filth came out of the drain plug. I spent the entire night cleaning the bathroom floor. The area under the couch was not vacuumed.

Great location! Hotel is rundown, old and has has that old dusty smell of an old building in desperate need of a renovation. Rooms were large with kitchette. Furniture was old, cushions and all felt the same dusty smell and feel of the lobby as described above. Shower was a good size but again, the last refit of the room showed a genuine desire to not spend any money or have any class, taste or style being incongruous with the rest of the room and cheap!

This is a lovely old art deco building in a central location. Beds are comfortable and they offer a good number of channels on Foxtel. However, the upkeep of the apartments is poor and there is no daily servicing done. I had to liaise to get lights and taps fixed and to get rubbish removed.

I liked the art deco building.I don’t mind old buildings. It was comfortable and clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is great, walk into city, close to lots of cafes and shops. I would definitely stay again. I did thing it was too exciting though.

The rooms are very outdated and one of our rooms needed some work done. The bi-fold doors to one of the rooms was not in working order and off the runners which made it unsafe. There were lights not working and a large exposed rusted area where there used to be a clothes line in the shower and mould in the bathroom. We were also advised that it was our responsibility to keep the room clean, which we didn't mind but there was no working vacuum or one available for us to be able to keep the room clean. When asked if they could vacuum to try keep the rooms tidy we were told that we would be charged if the cleaners were to do it. The freezer of the room was built up of frost and there was left over food/drinks from other guests left in the fridge. The top of the curtains had a layer of dust on them and areas around the room had not been cleaned properly. Some of the cupboards had dust/dirt through out, we were not comfortable even using the kitchen items such as plates, pots, cups or kettle.
