Located in a largely ethnically Turkish neighborhood of Brussels, the Hotel Meribél is located not far from the Brussels Nord station (one stop to the airport), the Botanical Gardens, and the Botanique metro stop. It is about a 20-minute walk to the Grand Place down the Rue Royale. The property itself looks to be renovated in a building constructed for another purpose, and my room was on the small side (though fairly typical for this kind of family-owned property). There was plentiful hot water in the shower, the bed was comfortable, and there is a small backyard off the dining area off the lobby. Continental breakfast begins at 7:00 on weekdays and consists of a variety of sliced meats, cheeses, vegetables, and fruits, with cereal, yogurt, and dried fruits along with a variety of fresh (as in brought in from the bakery each morning) pastries and breads, juices and milk. There is a coffee machine available 24/7. While I did not find the neighborhood to be unsafe, one walking routes from Brussels Nord to the hotel takes you through the red light district. If you like pide (Turkish pizza) and similar foods, there are many good dining options close at hand. It’s not far from the Rogierplein and two very popular (but touristy) shopping streets.

Very welcoming stay and friendly staff. Seems to be family run hotel, all tribe at various ages was involved to serve breakfast, clean rooms and stay on duty at reception. We got our rooms as soon as they were ready despite our early morning arrival. All was fine. Stairs are super narrow, but that's my choice to use them instead of lift. Breakfast had good variety for cold buffet. The only downsides were thin walls/windows (sounds like being on the street) and hot water not working properly (coming and going). I'm ready to return here.

The hotel is family run and is an older building with a tidy, albeit small interior. The hotel desk clerks were kind, responsive and speak an impressive 4 languages: Turkish, French, Flemish, and English. The breakfast is delicious and modest and includes breads, meats, cheeses, cereal, fruit, olives, and some vegetables. The location of the hotel, however, is in a neighborhood that is better suited for the traveler looking for adventure and experience over sightseeing as most residents are not Europeans and the neighborhood is far from the main attractions. My cab driver, who was born and raised in this neighborhood and is of Turkish descent, offered to take to a more suitable hotel. I declined and enjoyed the small comforts that it offered. I had no issues getting an Uber and found people in the neighborhood curious and nice.

I was unable to stay here due to over booking. The area was right where I wanted to be and the room was a great price. I told this hotel I’d be out of the country till 9pm and needed a late check in. I had no internet no communication which I let them know. They sent me a response midday saying sorry we are unable to accommodate you. It was 9pm by the time I saw this I was alone in a city I’ve never been before with no where to go. Not my favourite experience but I’m sure I would have enjoyed my stay.

Excellent staff, great staff very helpful including on requests like lending me a phone charger and printer. The only issue was traffic noise, might not affect others who are not light sleepers or might not be in all rooms but it bothered me. Otherwise well priced and good.

Personale molto gentile, rapporto qualità prezzo molto buono. Nel complesso lo consiglio.
