Overall it was a great experience. The only complaint would be our first room had a view of the alley but we were quickly moved to a room of the street. I gave a three star for area around the property only because of the alley and the construction on the street.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were extremely hospitable & helpful. Hotel is conveniently located in heart of old Montreal with numerous attractions, restaurants and shops easily walkable. There is currently construction on street outside as well as hotel being renovated inside, but did not affect our experience. Would definitely stay at Hotel Nelligan again.

The Nelligan is under renovation at the moment. Staff work hard to minimize any disruption with much, though not complete, success.

The room was lovely, the breakfast in Mama c’s was spectacular!!
The bed was very average in comfort, with renovations inside the hotel. We had a jack hammer, inside the hotel, begin work at exactly 8am one morning and metal work 2 other mornings of our 4 mornings. Oddly, much of the rest of the day the work was quiet.
Also there was no mention of the major construction outside of the hotel which was somewhat inconvenient.
The amenities are nice and the location is great.

Would have given 5 stars all around but the AC was out when I stayed. Was fortunate to have windows I could open which helped but repair crew on roof was very loud.

I have stayed at the Hotel previousy and its very nice. Undegoing some renovations inside and construction outside, but still accomodating.
Only issue was the air conditoning not functioning in the room, it was very hot at night, there is the option to open the window but it is quite noisey.
The restaurant in lobby is always a great place to eat breajfast

Visited May 2025. The hotel is in a fantastic location—right in the middle of everything, which made it very convenient for exploring the area. During our stay, there was major road construction happening directly outside the property. This made access a bit challenging, with uneven sidewalks and blocked walkways creating some navigation issues and dust around the entrance.
The recently renovated lobby is beautiful and welcoming. However, the hallways were quite dim and could benefit from better lighting. Our room was comfortably cozy but showed signs of wear—some furniture was scuffed, the mirror was missing from the bathroom door frame, and the grout in the shower looked a bit worn.
There was a minor hiccup with valet service—they accidentally forgot to load our suitcase into the car. Fortunately, we noticed quickly and were able to retrieve it without much trouble. Despite this, the front desk staff were very pleasant, professional, and helpful throughout our stay.

We had a good stay, room was clean, and staff are very helpful and friendly. They are however under construction, and lobby and rooms are being updated, so there was disruption and elevators were being used by contractors and painters, so there was a longer than usual wait to get in and out of them. The service and willingness to accommodate definitely made up for it, but it was a disruption. Once construction is complete, I would definitely stay there again.

A gem of a hotel, with lovely rooms and a rooftop bar which reopened for the season on the day we arrived. There was renovation underway that they said would be done within three days. This made waiting for the single elevator a bit tedious. Other than that, I have nothing but good things to say. The service was great. We ate in the steakhouse attached to the hotel, which was very pleasing. All in all, a fabulous stay.
