Staff here were genuinely helpful — not just polite, but really attentive when you needed some assistances.

Tucked in a convenient spot near all kinds of food and shops, the hotel still felt quiet and restful. We had no trouble getting a good night’s sleep and waking up refreshed.

Everything felt easy and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The staff were patient and clear when offering help, which made a real difference.

After a long day of drive, the room felt really clean and relaxing. Check-in was quick with some friendly reminders, and the hotel is conveniently close to a good variety of restaurants and shops.

They kept up dirty towels.. there was a leak in the room.. beds were uncomfortable. Says the doors will be locked at 10PM, we get back at about 9:50 and the doors are already locked. Before us there was another couple waiting to get back inside. We called so many times, they weren’t answering

Smell and poor maintenance

The lobby door was locked on our arrival at 10:30 The room was extremely cold all we had for heat was a small roll along heater. There was hardly any hot water certainly not enough for a good shower

This used to be a lovely accommodation. It is disgusting now. Got locked out every time I went out the front doors as they have no staff at the desk in the evening/night/morning.

This hotel is very dated, dirty, smelly, staff hard to communicate needs with, and had no heat. Small space heater provided, no door locks.

Stinky hallways, unfriendly staff and is it legal to lock the front door at 10pm and not give visitors a key?

Some kind of machinery below our room made a terrific noise exactly every 15 minutes all night long. Room was shabby, threadbare sheets, one lamp for the whole room, ridiculously small stained towels. It was gross. Staff was interesting the front desk person had on an orange hoodie with the hood over his head. Friendly enough but reception smelled bad, room smelled like the decades long smoking room it used to be. Our ‘view’ was over a trash filled junk yard. Do better people, you could make a fortune off tourism if you got your act together. The restaurant was amazing though. We are from Port Alberni and would be willing to try again if you can clean it up.

Everything is outdated: showers are leaking, bathtubs have no plugs, sinks are rusty with a lot of cracks. Rooms were dusty with filthy spots on TV and table. It was obviously overpriced. The only good thing was that this hotel accepted dogs, but it was quite unreasonable to pay $30.00 for a very clean,quiet, older dog.

Cheaper than staying in the west coast of the island - but the cleanly, overall look, and experience was sub par - however, it was offered at a lower price than stays in uchelet - that made it acceptable- port area is nice

Our room smelled like a smoking room, there was no hot water to shower and a terrible shower set up that was missing basic supplies. Couldn’t open windows at all to air it out, unhelpful check in with added fees. Not clean

I stay at lots of hotels all around northern/southern BC , Alberta , Saskatchewan, and Manitoba for work and just my own traveling experience. This hotel is by far one of the worst ones I’ve been at , I wish I read some of the reviews before dropping in . The first night I came back on a Friday night and the front door was locked and you are not given a scan card or nothing to get back in . It does say the door is locked after 11 but in a Friday night seems a little crazy especially when visiting a town . I ended up sleeping in my truck that night cause I couldn’t get in . The next day the water was out and the day before I had no hot water . The rooms themselves are fine if you don’t look too hard at the carpet and the walls which could use a good cleaning . I would not recommend staying here if you are coming to port alberni especially if you are going out at night cause then you will not be able to get back into the hotel .
