Pleasantly surprised by Avant Garde Hotel. We planned a one night stay to catch a flight to Kunming the next morning, and did not expect it to be so fabulous. Very close to Shenzhen airport, no. 1. Other than having a hint of smoke smell in the hallway and the bed being a bit too hard (typical Chinese local standard), we found the room to be real comfortable, well designed and staff most polite and helpful. They advised us to go visit Sea World which we found to be an enjoyable experience and good way to spend a few hours. Hotel is close to local restaurants that you can eat even late into the morning if you can't sleep. Surrounding streets are clean and walk-able.

The hotel is really nice and modern. It is near from a mall, so we had good options for dinner. The rooms are really nice and big! The only thing I missed is that the staff don´t speak English so well, so sometimes we had some difficulties in communication!

One of my favourite 'Go To' hotels for business or hosting business guests. Very comfortable and good amenities, decent internet and friendly helpful staff. Harry the Indian Concierge is the best if you need help getting something done or with English translation. Local area is very 'local' but easy to get a cab or bike to Metro. Close to SZ Airport.

I've stayed at the Avant-Garde Hotel several times this past few years. Very convenient location for me. Friendly and helpful staff, but limited with their English. Cleanliness was acceptable, but in need of maintenance and getting very dated now.

Hotel was pleasant, The lobby bar was not open when it should have been. The front desk sent a guy over but he could not find the keys to unlock the refer. After 10 minutes of waiting they told me to go to the 8th floor restaurant and they sat me in a large buffet area. I ordered my mixed drink and it arrived about 15 to 20 minutes later. So the moral of this story is if you want to have a drink or beer you should buy it before you arrive to this hotel.

Room was big and quite comfy. Breakfast included was not very good (compared to other 4-5 stars hotel in China). Location is only good if you travel by taxi/car, subway is quite far. Good for business stay, would not recommend to tourists.

The room, lobby, and all are really nice and felt 5*. However, the internet was not available (useless per front desk person), for 80% of the time I was there. Hard to do business with no internet. They also did not turn on the central AC, so it was getting hot in our room. We complained, and they said others had too. But the didn't fix it. Then when we checked out they said no one has complained. Oh well, they did credit us back the extra charge for a window because of the problems.
