mind blowing stay

Checked in past the midnight due to my late flight. Front desk spent some extra time being confused by my documents but situation was quickly resolved. No big deal given that all of them were interns. Room was clean and on the top floor with lounge access to fruits and some fancy delicacies. The included breakfast had excellent choices though the table cleanliness can be improved. In-room safe has atypical locking and unlocking design so be patient with that. Front desk was friendly and helpful in accommodating late checkout, getting taxi, and providing general directions. The only complaint is that the room AC didn't have any cooling effect when set to cool. Given the humidity, it was a bit uncomfortable sleeping. Learned in the next morning that the building AC is typically turned off at some point in the night for the season to conserve energy which I understand. Overall it was a good value stay for services received.

Loved the hotel. The people were nice. I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is old but clean and staffs are helpful.

The concierge was simply amazing. Help us getting around and prepare for our bus trip to Huangshan the next day.

The hotel looks and feels good as a whole. The breakfast offers a wide variety of dishes. However, it seems like there are not much activities to do at night.

Our stay at the hotel was positive, the area was central and well serviced by public transport. The buffet breakfast was the hallmark, good variety of options with plenty to choose from. The staff was polite, the facility it is mostly designed for locals even the TV remote control has Chinese character. Among not the most positive, upon our arrival there was a long delay to check in due to only one person attending at the front desk, it took 25 minutes. The other let down was the non operative air conditioning, we were told Management set up the programming for late April although the heat started earlier in the month, the hotel compensated this by providing free refreshments then gave my son a bag with few toys. Overall positive with few inconvenients.

Very comfortable and close to many places of interest

The hotel was slightly far from town and quite far from the nearest subway station. The hotel rooms were clean and the executive room allows us to have a snack on the executive floor once a day which was quite good. However, the food is not replenished if you go late at night which is a disappointment. Buffet breakfast was decent with a selection of both western and chinese selections. Overall, it was a happy stay. But when I was there in July in summer, the hotel still uses central air-conditioning in the rooms. We were unable to lower the temperature in the room which made the rooms really hot at night which makes it difficult to sleep. But other than that, the hotel was good. It would be great if the hotel allows guests to control the temperature in their own room.

Hotel is very nice and does well for an overnight guest with a need for internet and good breakfast. More English TV chanels is needed.

The location wasn't great. No easy public transportation around. Service was not great overall: I tried to book a tour through the hotel to go to Thousand Island lake. I was supposed to get picked-up at 7AM and return around 3PM (per the hotel instructions). The tour guide came at 5:30AM asking me why I wasn't ready. I did not even have time to have breakfast that I had paid for with the room. And the tour ended at 6:30PM: I barely had enough time to catch my evening train back to Shanghai. While the hotel staff tried to be nice when I booked the tour, the organization was really poor (and I am not even sure that they realize it...)... I would not recommend this hotel overall...

Comparing with other Best Western Hotel I stayed in China this one is superb. Although the hotel is old but very well maintained and provides all the great services as other four stars hotels. The location is a very long walk to West Lake but close to freeway.

Not the best location but good service and ok breakfast for being in China.

This hotel tarnished our previously held high regard for Best Western Hotels because of the snotty attitude of the doorman. The hotel facilities and breakfast were awesome. But the doorman and bellman services were the poorest that we have ever experienced. There wasn't any doorman or bellman when we arrived. There wasn't any luggage cart there. When we left, although there was a taxi desk outside of the hotel, there wasn't any taxi waiting or any doorman present. However, there was a doorman-looking guy standing far away from the desk and was having a personal conversation with the other hotel staff. So we approached them to look for the service to call the taxi. One guy confirmed that he was a doorman but didn't help us with our request. Instead he and the other hotel staff made sneering comments and gestures about our request for an SUV type of taxi and our destination. We had to carry our luggages to the street to hail a taxi ourselves. We believe that this behavior is unacceptable and totally inappropriate from a staff member of a Best Western Hotel. Additionally, I would like to mention that I attempted to contact the hotel's english line to complain shortly afterwards but the call was put directly to the voicemail so I couldn't talk to anyone directly.
