InterContinental Hotels LIJIANG ANCIENT TOWN RESORT by IHG

We stayed at the Intercontinental hotel for two nights. The hotel grounds are very impressive and the staff is highly trained and speak very good English. We didn't use any of the facilities, but we did enjoy the great breakfast. The hotel is located on the edge of Lijiang's old town. So while it's quite touristy, it's not as crowded as the centeral area. So why only 4 stars? Here's the thing, we asked the hotel for a large taxi, fitting for four people and four large suitcases. The destination was Shaxi, about a 2 hours drive. They wanted 1,600 RMB for the trip. Why? Dunno. Because it's an expensive hotel, maybe. But I'd expect a hotel with Chinese speaking locals to help us get the best deal possible, not rip us off. How do I know it was a rip off? I texted a random driver with a van on wechat and got the same ride for 700 Yuan. That was also way too steep (the hotel owner in Shaxi explained it should cost 400-500). The experience left a bad taste on my mouth. I'd recommend staying at a cheaper, less 'luxurious' hotel, where you're not just a walking wallet to them.

What a wonderful experience at this hotel. We are traveling with young kids and the lovely staff went above and beyond to help in making our stay in Lijiang more memorable. Definitely recommended this hotel and special thanks to the Concierge staff, Aller Bai for his outstanding service to my family.

a nice hotel with good location. but it does not match up the level of its competitors. not really good services. 服务在丽江算比较差的，住了两家好的，这家真的就基本没服务。第二天我要去爬山半夜看到说要准备一个口罩，可能会扬尘，然后我早上等车的时候问了前台，前台头都没抬，说我们不停供。 问题是他们前台自己都有人带着口罩。 不提供也没关系，但是态度是真的不好。 酒店的位置和硬件都算不错的，但是服务真的是拉胯

We liked the location, it is very close to the old town. We also liked the breakfast buffet and sitting at the bar looking out at the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The waiter at the bar, Will Wang, and his helper were great. We did not like our room. It felt dark and dated.

Location is perfect, and hotel circumstances are wonderful. Breakfast is so good. All staff were so kind.

Excellent location for families with young children adjacent to the Ancient Town with direct access gates. Nice pool and children’s indoor playground. Executive room can easily sleep four with no added extra bed - one on the couch and three in the bed.

We booked and was assigned a non-smoking room. However the bathroom area has VERY strong cigarette odor that permeates to the rest of the room it was giving me headache. We stayed in 3 hotels during our trip to the northern part of Yunnan. This was the most expensive establishment but the worse smelling one out of the 3.
