Dover Town Rooms

Poor staff management and continued harassment, pushing us for unnecessary information.

Locating Dover Town Rooms presents something of a challenge. Google maps does not acknowledge the existence of Eastbrook Place, which appears to be part of another road, Maison Dieu Road, and actually has Dover Town Rooms marked at no. 3, not no. 5. It is quite easy, if coming by car, to sail past the property heading towards the end of a busy one-way street with 2 lanes, as one concentrates on negotiating the intersection ahead, wondering if you have simply missed it, or whether it lies further ahead beyond the traffic lights. Nor is it particularly easy to identify the number 5. Do not make the mistake, as I did, of imagining that there might be a helpful sign outside saying 'Dover Town Rooms'. There is merely a darkly painted door with a number 5 on it. Check-in was something of an ordeal, and not an experience I would choose to repeat in a hurry, requiring photos of driving licence, uploads to a website, full address, email, phone number (no autofill), etc etc. That completed, I arrived and was greeted by a rat scuttling along the pavement and into a vent hole - though admittedly it seemed to be resident at the adjoining property, no. 4. Armed with various codes, I was able to gain entry, at which point things began to improve. The hallway was brightly lit - almost too brightly - and appeared to have been the recipient of large amounts of white paint recently applied. Following a brief tussle with the key box outside my room, I found myself in what was quite a pleasant

The room was spotless, it was really nice, very spacious, the shared bathroom was also very clean.

Old building

The room, once I checked in was fine. Prior to checkin, I had to provide a copy of my passport, but the scanning app did not accept my passport. I then sent a photo which was accepted. It then wanted a selfie, and after 6 failed attempts because it could not provide a match, I gave up. There is no one on site, they provide a code via email to access the front door, and the room keys. I do not have data on my phone, so had to access WiFi somewhere in order to get the codes. It turned out OK, but I probably would not book there again.

Convenience

It was nice. Shared bathroom accommodation, responsive staff, and clean facilities. A fan is provided for those that miss air conditioning

Hi, I would like a refund for my stay. I was not able to check in because the ID verification page was down and the property had no in-person front desk. The host responded very slowly and the phone was not reachable after the first call. I was standing cold outside with absolutely no one on the street to help. I was lucky to find a lodging place down the street. This experience was definitely not what a traveler was expecting in an unfamiliar and less populated city by yourself. Both the property and Expedia should make this clear that this is an unmanned lodging with nobody to help and questionable reliability. If you want a peace of mind, you should be looking for somewhere else. This was an unfortunate case due to a technical issue with the website. Once again it is up to your call as I have no procedural power to let you refund me. I cannot even reach out to Expedia about past booking. But in good faith I think the property and Expedia should refund the traveler and do better next time.

Not in the nicest area. Room was clean and nice enough for a short stay but safety was questioned especially at night

The place is what it says. Absolutely perfect for me and chance to cook your own meals. Yep shared bathroom but that was no problem. Had a family issue rung host if could stay another night with no problem.. Would I stay again, it's a big yes from me..

Cheap , cheerful and clean couldn't ask for more on a budget. If your passing through definitely worth a stay

Lovely stay, very convenient to the train station, cliffs walk and castle. Kitchen and laundry facilities available for use which was nice. Only downside was the sink in our room did not drain well so we didn’t really get to use it properly.

You can see the castle lit up at night. The room was close to the castle and the train station. Despite being in an older building, it was renovated and clean.

The property was super cute and felt safe and homely.

A very comfortable room, and a well planned room. Windows opened. Kitchen was well stocked and had everything from microwave, fridge, stove as well as a washing machine. Location close to city centre. Only problem was there was no free parking between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm anywhere in Dover.

The room was ok but the tv remote did not work. The bed was ok for me but others might find it uncomfortable. The bathrooms were on another floor but otherwise ok . There is a small kitchen 2 floors above which is good but you do have to go looking for it. Only one person at a time in it though.
