Our fifth stay at this great hotel! Although we live locally we like to stay in a place convenient to any events we attend. As always the welcome was great. Room was well appointed and the signature bath in the room was well received. Dinner & breakfast were great, plenty of choice and hot &!tasty.

Parking behind main building is limited, we got the last space. Unfortunately our twin room was like an outbuilding in the car park and very cold (radiators didn’t work) with a lamp not working and a spot lamp flashing on and off. Reported to staff and they put an electric radiator in the room which took the chill off. They said they’d have to get an electrician out re the lighting problems. In the morning we could see that one of the windows didn’t close properly which would have contributed to the unacceptably cold room. No bathroom light switch from the bed furthest from the door, resulting in nasty shin bump. It felt incredibly basic overall and definitely wasn’t worth the price paid. Went to the bar to warm up but it wasn’t especially warm either and, disappointingly, no fire or wood burner. Bought a bottle of wine, intending to drink it with some bar meals but were then told the kitchen was closed (around 7pm). This was really annoying because we had not been told they were closing early when we checked in (it says 9pm online). Found ourselves walking the cold streets trying to buy food late at night, not the treat we’d anticipated. Awoken at an ungodly hour after a pretty sleepless night (hungry) by a car parking outside with its radio bass on full blast (staff coming on shift?). At 7:30 we were woken again by a bin lorry just outside. Breakfast was ok, a very pleasant waitress. Juice and coffee good. Pancakes clearly not fresh. Full English poor, esp. eggs.

The lady who greeted us was not polite, she was too busy to provide good service. I wasn’t happy with how she came across and she took it personally. Her body language the day of arrival and again at breakfast. It was bizarre. She chose to be moody over being polite and helpful. The room was tired, the shower and sink flooded, took a long time to drain. The in room / open bathroom light wouldn’t work unless the extractor was on and when on it was loud. The stair case was filthy. It was my third and final stay. Shame really as it has (had) so much potential.

Nice and friendly staff, a warm welcome but sadly lacking in experience, drinks were a little disappointing and the beer was off in taste. Breakfast wasn’t great, long wait times and for what it is, pretty expensive too, nearly £20 for a cooked breakfast on top of room rate and also car parking charges. My Amex was I correctly charged upon check out without my knowledge. A little frustrating Good location, well priced rooms for a work trip pit stop.

Nice room and useful with car chargers on site. Kitchen ran out of food, served dinner with random ingredients from the breakfast menu instead, stayed on a Sunday evening, staff had a lock in downstairs that woke me up throughout the night until almost 3am, won’t be back.

Our fourth stay at this lovely hotel. The room was just the right size, big comfortable bed. Pillows could have been better, they were small & flat. We didn’t realise until the morning that shower gel/shampoo were missing and the bath plug did not have a rubber seal. We had Sunday lunch and breakfast in the restaurant. All food hot and tasty.

We have stayed twice before and were given the room with the double baths again which sadly we didn’t have time to take advantage of. The room is spacious with a big four poster bed. There was a great fan provided which helped greatly with the warm weather. Breakfast was great but there was quite a delay between ordering and receiving our food. The food was hot and delicious though.
