We visited for our anniversary and it was perfect. The room was worth the extra money we would usually pay for a night away as all the facilities were spotless and finished to a high quality. Staff were very friendly and attentive and answered any queries promptly.

Good but could be quite a bit better! The positive: Really lovely staff at the front desk and in the restaurant. Nice walkable location. Comfortable bed. Quirky and nice decor. Good coffee drinks at the restaurant. The needs improvement: Gosh, why can't there be hooks to hang the towels on? There's nowhere to put them! Restaurant: just not...very good. At a guess I'd say the quality of the raw ingredients isn't very good? I like the idea of ordering a hot breakfast but it only really works if the result is tasty. Which it never was. The "be advised if you're staying here": Our room overlooked a street where there was a busker playing for hours. This meant no peace and quiet during the day. Also, there was some really loud music til 11pm on Friday night - again - just useful to know. It is city centre, so that's for better and for worse. The "folks, you REALLY need to clean up your act": The spa, when I visited on Friday afternoon, was a disgrace. Used drinking glasses and towels everywhere. No clean towels available in the changing room. No fresh glasses for anyone wanting water (dangerous actually). No one monitoring the temperatures resulting in a steam room I'm pretty sure was dangerously hot. Some marks on one of the two hot tubs that looked suspiciously like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. All it would take is someone coming in every 20-30 minutes or so to have made it a better experience. Definitely not worth £35.

We had an OK Stay. Having booked a premium hotel we would have expected more. The Breakfast offering was poor - fruit platters that looked like they's been there for days, and a lack of staff in the restaurant. coffee arrived with no milk, and when we went to asked for it we were told to be patient. The Shower in the room had no pressure, and we were informed by the front desk that the app had told them it was working as normal... Sadly the app was clearly faulty. The loo roll holder had come off the wall and the place generally looked slightly tired considering ti was supposed to be new. The wall was all scuffed round the mirror, and the whole place just needs a look over. furthermore The closest place you can park is 300m away, so not handy if you're there for a few days and have a lot of baggage / suits etc. Definitely avoid If you have kids!

Excellent city centre location. Near the Cathedral, shops, restaurants and transport links. Spacious room with a comfy bed and good walk-in shower. No openable window and the aircon kept turning itself off. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good.

Decoration in the hotel was really nice and original. Great shower in the bathroom and we slept really well on the bed. Can’t fault if. The hotel has lovely rooftop bar with a view of the Cathedral.

The great thing about this hotel is its amazing location and quiet rooms. An older building has its benefits. Sadly this property has changed a lot in the last year-18 months. Originally the rooms had a generous fridge offering including fresh milk. Now it’s long life milk and water only. The bathrooms also no longer offer any additional items, like cotton pads or buds. The toilets in the common areas are not reviewed regularly enough. Hand towels in the lobby area toilet not replenished and definitely not cleaned this morning. The breakfast team no longer bring you tea or coffee but direct you to the coffee station…also not cleaned regularly enough. My breakfast arrived not as described, with no explanation offered. When I asked whether the item wasn’t available, the response was - no sorry. The breakfast fruit and meats have moved location again and the selection has been reduced further. I want to keep coming here and hope the management realise that they are taking out the small things that all add up and make their offering different to other hotels in the city centre.
