Mercure Doncaster Centre Danum Hotel

Perfect location for the centre & at a reasonable rate However a lot of rooms did not have air conditioning Downstairs mens toilets were not clean & the check had not been done for some days by the sign on back of door. They also appeared gently understaffed

Check in took over 20mins and upon check out I was unable to get printed invoice. Air con in the room didn’t work it was just blowing out hot air and room was extremely hot. Only 1 towel smelled nice others smelled. At 7:30PM there was still dirty spoons from breakfast time by the breakfast counter (the ones to put on beans, scramble eggs etc). Floors in room where dirty and no water in mini fridge or coffee pods available/ topped up. I paid for the apartment so was very disappointed with overall experience. One of the worst hotels I stayed at.

Check in takes a ridiculously long time (over 25mins for 3 people), ask for ID unnecessarily, room was not cleaned to a decent standard, stagnant water left in kettle and coffee machine and someone’s clothes left in wardrobe. Bathroom was covered in paint and grout from some recent work and everything looked a bodge job from shower to toilet flush and taps. Only redeeming feature was size of room and bed was comfortable. Be aware bar opposite plays very loud music from early evening through to early hours.

Centre of town did not have breakfast clean room but a little dated

I travel a lot for business and this is one of the worst places I have stayed. We got two rooms, both the same and the same price. One of us got a 'Privilege room' the other got a prison cell. The prison cell was boiling and the window couldn't be opened. I asked to switch rooms, to which i was told there wasn't any spare rooms and they where fully booked which I found hard to believe. I asked about my colleague room and they said that also had air con, but they said there was none left. Fair enough, so they provided me a small electric fan, which made no difference, but they tried. Then at 1:30AM, my colleague was awoken to their bed being soaking wet and a leak coming from the ceiling. They then had no choice but to move my colleague, and guess what, to another 'privilege room' on floor 3, which must have miraculously just become available at 1:30AM. They also advertise, that they have a partnership to reduce their 'suggest' parking as there isn't any on site, yet when asked for the discount, they said they no longer have this, but yet the still advertise it. We would not stay here again. Terrible experience.

We booked this hotel expecting the standard typically associated with a Mercure property, but unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing. The hotel is clearly in desperate need of refurbishment. Our room was tired and poorly maintained, with cracked fixtures in both the sink and bath, and cleanliness standards were well below what we would expect. Housekeeping was inconsistent throughout our stay, with the room not being serviced on some days. The photographs used online are wildly misleading and do not accurately reflect the condition of either the rooms or the communal areas. The reality is very different from what is advertised. The air conditioning in our room was broken, which made the stay even more uncomfortable. To make matters worse, the hotel sits on the edge of a busy nightlife area. My room faced the street and, despite the double glazing, the booming music continued until around 4am on both Friday and Saturday nights. The noise levels were exceptionally loud and made it almost impossible to get any sleep. The one positive aspect of our stay was the staff. The front desk team were polite, professional and clearly doing their best under difficult circumstances. Breakfast was also perfectly acceptable. Sadly, good staff and an adequate breakfast cannot compensate for the poor condition of the hotel, the misleading marketing, the lack of maintenance and the severe noise issues. Overall, this was a terrible stay and certainly not what we paid for.

Old building with very poor repairs Staff are doing the best they can in a professional manner this really isn’t a hidden gem you are geting what you pay for .

A disappointing Tuesday night in Doncaster. Won’t be returning. Good; Pleasant, efficient reception staff Tea and coffee in room. Refurbished modern bathroom. Comfortable and clean bed . Close to station Cheap. Bad; Lift not working and was on third floor. No pre-warning despite booking in advance and lift ooo for a week. TV in room held on by single screw in wall bracket. I dared not touch it. No hot water . Just tepid. Irritating squeaky floorboards in corridor. Nightclub across street blaring bass music until 0230. (Appreciate this is not in direct control of hotel but didn't help the experience. )

Absolutely Terrible avoid . 2200 hours a male member of staff entered our room whilst we were in bed , nearly called Police . Lift permantly broken . Room cleaned once in 8 days Had to ask for clean Towels . Shower water only tepid . No remote for TV asked for another , that was broken ,fixed it myself . Dont bother with it .

Breakfast is questionable other than that I love it. I go regularly

OMG! Such a bad experience! Toilet leaking, wet towels in the bathtub, %₹%% stained closet, it was a nightmare ! How on earth can you run this as a hotel! But friendly and helpful staff, especially the lady at reception. My guess is, since I came in as a 3rd party booked guest, they tried to pull a fast one on me. In one word- AVOID !!!!

Hotel good for a nights sleep. Was let down as no teabags. Only coffee was available in room

Good quality hotel, perfectly located in the town centre. Room was not ready until 4pm which was not ideal and there was no real explanation or apology offered for this

The staff were none existent. Assigned room was a mess Booking was a mess dont use this hotel extremely poor .this is no exaggeration .

room was clean just needs updating the breakfast was absolutely shocking, it was cold and because they are pit it pots everytime someone took the lids off the condensation from the lids dripped onto the food, they were not topped up and kept running out not good at all

Clean enough room - staff were non-communicable and unwelcoming - room cold - hot breakfast cold - even the shops nearby were uninspiring - novel rubber watch strap key which could easily fall out of your pocket Last year I came here and it was wonderful - now taken over by people who want to line their pockets without serving the people who have the misfortune to stay here - I could say a lot more but you’d probably have me arrested for racism Never staying here again

Sadly I wouldn’t recommend staying here. We booked via hotels.com, we booked a ‘standard king bed room.’ This doesn’t exist. We were given a double bed, we asked to change this and showed them our booking which caused confusion. They upgraded us to a “bigger room” but this still had a double bed. This, paired with the mouldy smell throughout the hotel - unsure if an old mop smell or the aircon or both and very dodgy people hanging around reception / outside made us decide to move to the Premier Inn nearby which does have king beds! Danum would not refund us even though they are advertising and charging for what they cannot supply. The hotel has had had some work done and the bathrooms are new but still old carpets in the rooms. The receptionist did try her best to assist and was polite.

Easy walk from the station. Reception staff welcoming and helpful. stayed 2 nights. On my 2nd night came back to my room to find it had not been made up, nothing had been cleaned and tea/ coffee/ milk had not been replenished. Not what I expect from a hotel.
