An exceptional stay from start to finish. Entire staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive , making me feel at home throughout my visit. The spa was a delight. Location couldn’t have been better. Second time staying at this hotel. Our room was ready early in time for our arrival which was excellent and the location of the hotel was perfect for us. However, service in the restaurant, for both breakfast and lunch, was truly awful and ruined our experience. We won't stay again as there are better hotels in the immediate area.

There's a lot to recommend the Athenaeum - great location, friendly and professional staff, a good breakfast and clean and tidy. Unfortunately we also found reason to make us not want to return - the mattress on the bed sloped into the middle. To avoid this dip you sleep on the edge of the mattress and then you hit your head on the minibar cabinet which is pushed up flush to the bed (the addition of a foam protector on the corner tends to indicate this is a known problem). There was a constant dripping noise in the room which we could not locate but suspected came from the AC (which does not have an "auto" setting). Finally, one of the towels provided was worn out and actually had a large hole in it. We shall be trying the neighbouring competitors instead of returning.

This is a fantastic location. It’s easy to walk to Piccadilly and the West End. There are lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The underground is across the street, there’s a bus stop a block away. Our room was very nice, and clean. But we had a door to an adjoining room and the people next door had a baby who started crying at 5am every day and we could hear it clearly. Also, the park view means you are on the busy street so unless you really need to see the park, save some money and don’t get the park view. We asked to move our room a number of times but were told it was impossible.

I have stayed at The Atheneum many times in the last 25 years. And it just keeps getting better and better. The doormen were exceptional, especially Daniel. The concierge, Miguel and William were extraordinary. The front desk staff were welcoming and accommodating. I spent eight days there and it went by far too quick.

Overall I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It’s got that old charm with modern touch. My next door guest room played music very loud all night until 3am. I guess sound proof wall wasn’t thick enough well, other than that it’s very nice place and strongly recommend to anybody visiting London Mayfair area.
