The restaurant was excellent. Staff helpful. Room was disappointing bathroom had very small shower. Walls not tiled. 3 loose pieces of carpet. The website pictures of rooms and bathrooms bear no resemblance to the actual we experienced. We feel we were overcharged. Shame really as it could be lovely.

The hotel was lovely. Breakfast was great. Unfortunately on booking we didnt look at opening times. We booked to stay on a Monday. The hotel takes bed & breakfast bookings but the bar & restaurant isnt open on Mondays. So we had to drive 15 minutes to another village for food. Not what we realy wanted to do, but the luckily the other pub served food. It only says on opening time that the bar & restaurant is closed Mondays. It needs to more clearer on website as why would we look at restaurant & bar opening timrs if the hotels open. Its not a separate building from bat/restaurant to roons. We were not the only ones that got caught out. A,few others didnt know either.

Great little hotel conveniently situated about not far from the A1 about halfway between Peterborough and Grantham. Character building with peaceful and welcoming gardens to the rear, only 4 bedrooms which are clean and comfortable and a super pub/restaurant downstairs. Really friendly hostess and team with excellent meals served both morning and night - I recommend the beef fillet kebab, outstanding!

Ok, let’s start with the positives. The staff amazing, lovely people! Parking on site and good location(travelling to Scotland from London). Now the amenities, once you walk in the rooms area/stairs and corridors they are smelly, like old, mouldy place, the stairs make noises as if you were walking in an old precarious place. Furniture a little dated and soulless. The Room: dated and soulless, horrible cheap bed, pillows are thin and woke up with a sore neck. Walls are paper thin and you can hear people talking, walking in, banging doors and having shower at late hrs of the morning, also there is a constant noise from some sort of machine(boiler? Kitchen?) right below the room we were keeping us awake most of night. We found used flossing, no plastic in the bins and dusty areas. It’s such a pity as the staff is lovely, yet not an enjoyable stay and don’t recommend(until measures are taken).

I believe the owners are very new to hospitality but excellent chefs! We wish them well and hope as they gain experience it will show in the rooms. The area for sitting/working was a very dark corner restricted by the en-suite being in the wrong position but could have been arranged to be cosy corner with reading light etc. Our main complaint was the king size douvet had been pushed into a double size douvet cover. This would have been passable for a single person but get two in the bed and your backs are bare! The meal in the restaurant was very good and thoroughly enjoyed. Popular with the locals as well which is always a good sign.
