The Kakslauttanen Artic Resort in Lapland, Finland was a spectacular place for a vacation! Our Igloo Cabin was beautiful; it included a sauna and fireplace and easily could have slept a family of six. The property included a planetarium, art museum, event center, and a reindeer/horse enclosure. The cabins were beautifully spaced across a beautiful property. The last night of our stay included an incredible northern lights display as there wasn't a cloud in the sky!

The Kelo-Igloo was GORGEOUS! The log work was so beautiful. The fireplace was magical and we enjoyed falling asleep to real fire crackling and a sky view. We appreciated having a sauna in our room and it was so kind that when we arrived late for check-in, they had a dinner box prepared. The same happened for an early checkout, they prepped a a nice breakfast box. The grounds were well maintained and we appreciated having drivers available so that we didn't have to walk everywhere since the property is big. There was a lot of snow and the location is very convenient to IVL airport. Overall, a magical stay -- I am still tracking the northern lights from their aurora app to stay in touch. That was a nice touch. My one suggestion is that I wish everything didn't close so early -- e.g. the Planetarium only has two shows. Majority of people are out doing activities during the show or having breakfast. This would allow guests to truly experience what all Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort has to offer.

I know this place gets some hate because of the prices, and it is very expensive. But I also get that its very far north, and they have a short window of the winter to make money. I did not know that a breakfast buffet and a 3 course dinner were included. I think thats a huge bonus. The food was excellent. I really enjoyed the resort, and I definitely would go back

It is a bit pricey but the experience is great. We observed auroras every night. The foods included are good. They also have à la carte menu but you will need to pay extra. The igloo is a bit of walk from recreation but they send car to deliver our luggages and picked us up on the day we leave. We had a great time, one of a kind!

The reindeer weren’t out yet so they had the hearder put them in the penned section so we could take pictures. Dinner at the resort was fantastic each night! We didn’t get to see the northern lights but the overall experience was 11/10!

Arctic Dreams and a €600 Nightmare: My Kakslauttanen Review My week at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort East Village March Arctic experiences abruptly interrupted by a discordant, and frankly, insulting note. The High Notes: My arrival was seamless. Despite a late flight, a friendly, English-speaking driver awaited me, even sharing some Finnish phrases – a warm welcome that set a high bar. The resort truly shines in its curated experiences. The Aurora Hunting with Snowmobile Sleigh was a thrilling introduction to the Arctic wilderness, with a knowledgeable guide who brought the landscape and its history to life. The Reindeer sleigh ride was pure magic, a serene journey through snow-laden forests that I enjoyed so much, I booked it twice! The Kakslauttanen Planetarium offered fascinating insights into the aurora, and the Husky Safari was, without a doubt, the highlight of my trip. The connection with the dogs and the thrill of the ride were unforgettable. The resort's consistent accommodation of my disability throughout these experiences was truly commendable. The Crashing Low: The €600 "Aurora Hunting by Car" Rip-off Then came the 3hr "Aurora Hunting by Car" excursion, a €600, three-hour travesty that shattered the illusion of Arctic perfection. This single excursion cost double all my other activities combined and matched the price of a business class flight with all its perks to the UK. This was not a "tour" or a "hunt." It was a grossly overpriced taxi ride.

Fantastic resort! Only one restaurant was open and the food wasn’t great (it was fine, just not great) but everything else made up for it. We stayed in a lovely Kelo-Glass igloo and absolutely loved it. The activities were fun—best were snowmobile, dog sledding and feeding the reindeer.

When we arrived we found that we had booked the east side igloos that have to shower facilities & a long walk through the snow to get to a shared shower room. This was not what we were expecting for such expensive accommodation! Luckily we got help from a great guy named Anastasios who got us into the west side of the property with an upgrade to an igloo with great facilities, where we saw the northern lights! Thank you so much Anastasios for saving our bucket list trip from being a disaster! You have great understanding & very helpful customer service skills! The resort is much better in the west side…east side I would rate not much higher than back packer accommodation at a ridiculous price! The food could be better too for the price!

We stayed 2 nights in Feb 2025. First night was at the Glass Igloo then Log Cabin at the East Village. Pros: We chose the East versus West for a more authentic experience. Anastasio at the reception desk was accommodating and welcoming. Food selections at the restaurant for Breakfast and Dinner were great as are the ladies, Mailyn and Rochelle, the servers who always had a smile when you walk in. I see all workers really work hard in doing their jobs including the shuttle drivers and the guy who lit the fireplace in our cabin. CONS: East village Glass Igloos could use some renovations. There were some bugs on the floor. Whoever is in charge of booking is a huge let down. When I booked my Glass Igloo reservation, I mistakenly booked for 2 nights. I immediately sent a message to Kaklaustannen and later with help of Expedia reps to have the 2nd night, NOT CANCEL, but switch to Log cabin for comfort of my husband who is 72 years old. They repeatedly denied even though for it’s for medical reasons since my husband has a bad knee and heart issue. I end up purchasing an extra reservation for the 2nd night so he could be more comfortable at the Log Cabin. So I had 2 reservations for the 2nd night!! The management is downright callous, inconsiderate and greedy.Log cabins are actually cheaper than Glass igloos and I initially booked in Oct ‘24. Plenty of time to switch. Even the Expedia reps tried to help and advocated since it’s for medical reasons but to no avail.
