Couple of things worth mentioning . If you plan to stay here especially if you came by train or bus , it is only a 15 minute walk to the hotel but through lots of inclines /declines , and taxis were short to come by so it was a heck of a walk there though the cold and rain . Breakfast buffet was not great , eggs /sausage were cold , and very tiny selection considering the cost . Pass on the breakfast “buffet” Also - not saying the front desk wasn’t helpful they just don’t volunteer any useful information for getting around or where things are in the hotel and acted shocked when I would ask , also very outdated , and BIG lack of amenities for what they charge . I would pass on this hotel

Aktiv Hotel Schweiger is located in a quiet area of Fussen. It's a 15-minute walk along the river to the old town with its many shops, historical landmarks, and restaurants. However, no need to go into town for each night as they serve a lovely dinner at the hotel. Their breakfast buffet offers a lot of selection, too. The hotel itself is well-maintained. My room was spacious, clean and bright. The staff are extremely helpful. Prior to my stay, they were prompt to answers questions about their spa services and helped me choose the best options for me. They even went out of their way (twice) to acknowledge my birthday which occurred during my stay, which I very much appreciated. The area around the hotel is safe. And if you have a car, there is both above and underground parking. I highly recommend this hotel.

Located 10-15min walk from the train/bus station in a quiet area and less than 10min walk from the town centre. Room reasonably spacious and clean, overall decent standard. Major frustration that hotel is more than happy to take the money and not give you what you paid for. Trust receptionist at your own risk - or get everything on paper. And pay in advance only for what you're sure you'll use.. Note that breakfast only starts from 7:30 - if you haven't bought castle tickets for Hohenschwangau in advance but need to queue for them in the morning, you will be unlikely to get them if you wait for breakfast. I was told by a receptionist when checking in that I can't get an early or take-away breakfast - but she suggested I can cancel the breakfast and will get a refund - which I accepted. To my astonishment, the next day another receptionist said no refund. She, and another person she called in, accepted I had paid for the breakfast, didn't get it because I trusted what a receptionist had told me - and they thought this was perfectly ok and just shrugged their shoulders. They make mistake - and let you, the customer, pay for it.

In a good location. You could walk into the town. The hotel staff were very friendly and the breakfast was great. The only downside was that the shower in the bedroom was in great need of updating and the pillows could do with being renewed.

Aktiv was a really lovely spot, in a quiet corner of a beautiful town. It was a nice short walk to downtown, and we appreciated the use of their bikes to enjoy the countryside. The restaurant was also excellent.

Very poor facilities in the rooms. No kettle or mini fridge etc and a tiny television (an old computer screen) you can barely see from the bed, with very limited channels. Old, mismatched furniture with no charm whatsoever! For the price you pay for this hotel, you get a very poor standard of room.
