We loved the hotel and staff was super. The only thing that concerns us is if you arrive on a weekend and come from the USA you will have an issue calling the hotel to get in(unless you have world wide phone with your mobile) We were lucky that we could FB our son and ask him to call for us.

Arrived out of hours for reception but it you notify the hotel it can easily be arranged that they will leave the key cards in a secure lock box on the wall by reception door (code was emailed to me). Stayed for business so was ideal as was < 10 minutes walk from the railway station and 10 -15 minutes from town centre restaurants. Room was clean, bed very comfortable ,good breakfast choice and friendly staff.

Positive: The hotel itself is nice with a balanced price value. Spacious room, own parking and GREAT breakfast! Negative: do NOT book this hotel via hotels.com if you're on business trip. Having paid the sum to hotels.com you will be invoced by the hotel only on the part of your sum paid. Good, I've been only one day there, so I lost appr 20 EUR on this strange scheme. Still if you have an extensive business trip (e.g. for a week) your losses will get higher.

City Hotel Garni is a typical small town hotel. The room was rather small (if you are from North America like myself) but it was clean and modern. The single bed was comfortable and clean, the bathroom was also clean and proper and internet in the room was good. If you are looking for electrical outlets, they are hidden behind the television. We walked less than 5 minutes to an area where there are many restaurants. There are free parking across the street which I think is very safe for a small town like Ahlen. If you are a light sleeper, you may hear the ICE trains passing through at night. It wasn't loud and it was okay for me. The room comes with free breakfast, however the day I stayed I missed their breakfast because I was almost late for my early morning appointment. All in all, if you are in Ahlen I would recommend this hotel. The hotel receptionist was super friendly and welcoming. Also they provide you with unlimited bottled water in the fridge. Never seen anything like this in all of my travels.

Very comfortable bed and room. Good shower too. Useful location, right near the station. Decoration a bit utilitarian - not much atmosphere to the room but perfectly functional. The hotel needs to change the type of soap it uses in its dispensers both for basin and shower - it was horrible!

Chose hotel for my annual visit to the Hamm reptile fair. Is close enough to drive to show but is far enough from the main city to be quiet and relaxing. Restaurants and bars are a 10 minute walk. Staff are very helpful and rooms are spotless and have good enough suite. Second visit - will return

Food was great. Room was great. Fantastic value for money. Only Criticism was lack of staff in the evening (only one person for kitchen, restaurant and reception). No problem really, just felt a bit sorry for him ruching around! All in all, a very enjoyable stay and would definitly reccommend it.

I used this hotel for 1 night, coming from Dusseldorf airport late in the night, as I had a meeting in a city close by next morning. As we knew this is a family small hotel, we called from the airport and were informed that there would be nobody at the reception when we arrived (around nid-night) but, they were kind and professional enough to leave our keys so we could access our rooms without problems. Very friendly and helpful staff, specially the lady at the reception who I believe is the owner. They do not speak much English, that wasn't a problem for me as they were very keen to understand my little German and we could communicate what we needed. One of my work friends was sick and had to stay in his room while we went for the meeting. The lady at the reception understood my explanation and accomodated without problems his late check-out. Good brakfast, with great German bread, butter, cold cuts and cheese. Available proper coffee, I mean, expresso, latte and capuccino.
