Socialtel Antigua

Societal Antigua offered a great room, fantastic breakfast every morning, and very helpful staff.

Ok, it’s a real hostel. I booked an entire room just for me and it was nice and big. The shower is bad, like very little pressure and not hot, just warm water. Bathrooms are dirty. Breakfast is good. It’s simple but you can’t beat the location. Location is everything! I didn’t realize that I booked a hostel….if you are simple, just need a nice bed, ok with lukewarm water and outdated dirty bathrooms….it will work. I wished I read reviews. They do offer daily activities, close to everything and felt safe.

We stayed at Socialtel Antigua for 4 nights and paid around $1500 for our stay. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t meet expectations, especially for that price point. For most of our stay, there was very poor water pressure, which made it difficult to even shower properly. This was only fixed on the last day, and then the next morning we didn’t have hot water at all. On top of that, there was construction happening directly above our room for the first few days. The noise made it hard to relax, which was disappointing since we were really looking forward to a peaceful vacation. The property itself has potential and a nice vibe, but the overall experience was frustrating. Given everything we experienced, we do feel some sort of credit or compensation for a future stay would be appropriate. Hopefully these issues get addressed for future guests.

Great staff and a fun atmosphere with a great location. Bed was firm and comfortable.

The upgraded rooms are very nice, totally worth it. Great bed, everything you could want in there and more. The floor wasn't very clean though, had gum stuck to it in a couple obvious places... The grounds are much more spacious than I had expected, but not kept up very well. The pool area was kinda sad. The bar staff were pretty awful. The one lady was eager, but the guys need to find something else to do with their lives. Totally out of it, only there to party with their friends I think. The free breakfast wasn't money well spent, and there was barely coffee. But Antigua is awesome and this place was affordable, so I'd stay again and just avoid their in house restaurant (there are many other places to chose from, including one that is also on site).

Hotel has a nice aesthetic and has a lot of amenities. I can see how it would be great for meeting people. However I paid $140/night for the private room with bathroom and honestly think there are many many other hotels in Antigua that give you more value for your money (Smart TVs, larger modern bathrooms, etc.) Room service was horrible, ordered on their app and it took nearly an hour and half to get our food cold and in plastic containers. Had to complain in order to get the order remedied and delivered hot and on actual plates. And lastly I can’t overlook just how noisy this area is- the nearby church rings bells

The room was more than expected full of Guatemalan culture. It was nice and clean and friendly staff.

For the price, this place was great. I got a private room that had the basic amenities, though the shower wasn´t the best. Location is central and close to all activity and shuttle drop offs and pick ups. Their social activities don´t seem to really happen, but I wasn´t there for that so all good. Staff was pleasant and chill.

Spa was awesome, if you need a good massage ask for Maya :) Hotel overall was fun, young, energetic, and clean! I will definitely return for a second visit

The showers did not work correctly and the staff was not friendly to US but to other people

Our stay at Socialtel was beyond amazing! The staff were so pleasant and accommodating, the vibes were top tier and I would definitely recommend them to everyone! I may visit again!

Room smelled like a gym .

States at both Socialtel properties ( Atitlán and Antigua) but the property in Antigua was the worst by far. Staff looked so unhappy I was afraid to ask any questions. The room was dirty and the furniture moths. Very noisy at all times; you could hear people’s steps above you. The towels were old and teared. Don’t stay here; they need major renovations and a change in attitude!

This property is very nice.

I had a good stay with pleasant service. A couple of improvements could be made for the WiFi, pool cleanliness, and air conditioning (small portable unit that did not work well).

Real dope. You’ll love it.
