If you want both the convenient distance from Kumamoto Castle and the famous Japanese big bath with SAUNA, this is it! They also offer very convenient laundry system at very reasonable (or I'd say too great deal) price which is really helpful when you travel in Japan.
The facility is super clean, with cheerful staffs, and we really enjoyed tasty 'Yonaki-soba' (warm noodle service in the evening).Thank you for the memorable stay.

This hotel is excellent! The staff were so swift and friendly. The onsen is beautiful and relaxing, and the sauna is clean and comfortable. If I had to make one criticism, it’s that the pillows were a little hard, but other than that, this was overall a wonderful stay.

The hotel is located in the center and close to the Castle, which is nice. There are many guests—almost too any, and the restaurant and spa were often crowded. The room was fine although I didn’t need cleaning after the first night.

The hotel is conveniently located next to Sakura machi mall with lot of dining options. There is also a park next to it and in holiday time they put a Christmas market. The roof top onsen is the most important part, relaxing and fun. They offer free ramen and popsicle.

I made the reservation last minute due to change of plans, and I was pleasantly surprised by the very reasonable price and service of Dormy Inn Kumamoto.
Dormy Inn Kumamoto is located right in the center city where the action is: there is the main shopping area and Kumamoto Castle within 10 minutes of walking distance.
Dormy Inn Kumamoto itself is excellent because it has a spa included with a Sauna (which is kept at a good hot temperature) and a nice outdoor hot spring (yes, it is actually a hot spring). If you read Japanese, the comic selection which guests can borrow (up to 5 during one’s stay) is excellent.
The front desk is efficient and kind as well.

We would generally stay at Dormy Inn for their natural onsen and be happy with their services & facilities.
It has met our requirements this time (good location close to public transport, shops, restaurants, quiet, good breakfast, communal laundry, etc). Somehow this was the first time that we encountered an issue with the Dormy Inn (or any other hotels for that matter): there was pretty bad sewerage smell in the bathroom (we were in room 612). As we only stayed for a couple of nights, we didn't bother reporting the issue or asking to change room.
Other than that, it'd have been a very nice stay.
