The breakfast buffet was extensive and delicious.

Had a great night in Kobe at this hotel, perfect location to explore Meriken park at night and there was a shuttle bus to and from the central stations. The hotel is massive. Really comfy beds. Friendly staff, there’s a family mart in the hotel which was mega handy and on site Restarant options.

- relatively big rooms for Japan, enough space for luggage - balcony has great view of the port area - friendly and helpful staff - shuttle bus to Sannomiya station every 20 minutes, might be full at checkout times - nice lobby - reasonably priced dinner buffet - small Family Mart inside the hotel, Starbucks right outside - renovation would be appropriate - shower in the bathtub - travellator goes up to the lobby on the 3rd floor, but not down, have to use stairs or the hidden elevator to the parking garage - on the weekend youngsters will bring their tuned cars and motorbikes to the area in front of the hotel, so it can get a bit loud (but never unsafe)

Excellent waterfront location and very friendly staff. The breakfast buffet was quite good.

This was by far the worst hotel experience I had in Japan. The staff were notably unhelpful, and the hotel is definitely not infant-friendly. Early check-in is not allowed—even just 30 minutes before the standard time—even when rooms are clearly available. The front desk also made no effort to explain the facilities or amenities; I only found out about the direct shuttle to Sannomiya Station through another tourist staying elsewhere. There’s no luggage delivery service, so if you're planning a stay here, pack light. Infant cots come with an additional nightly charge, and there’s no microwave in the room (even with suites). The freezer didn’t work either, which is a major inconvenience if you need to store breastmilk or ice packs. Cleanliness was disappointing too—there were stains in both the bathtub and on the bed sheets. The only upside was the excellent soundproofing. Even though the hotel is located right at the harbor, you won’t hear the ferries. That said, if you book a west-facing room, don’t expect a great view—ferries may be docked there, blocking it.

As a solo female traveler, I could relax and enjoy my stay at Meriken Park Oriental Hotel. I dined at their Chinese restaurant on the 1st night. The staff welcomed and accommodated a perfectly positioned table for solo female diners who could enjoy the view without worrying about other diners' attention. On the 2nd day, thank you to the housekeeping staff; I spent most of the time in my room, relaxing and watching the view from the balcony during the day. For dinner, I used the room service and ordered the beef stew. The female staff delivered the food, which I felt at ease. To my surprise, the stew was delicious! My plan included the breakfast buffet; they offered a wide variety of foods, and I enjoyed it; if I may suggest, could you serve the egg dishes a bit warmer? Overall, I very much enjoyed my stay at the hotel. While I hope to return to the hotel with my husband on my next trip to Japan for a relaxing cruise-like experience without a cruise, I recommend solo travelers who want to experience the relaxing me time.

Quiet, clean, & comfortable

Quiet area and the property itself was spectacular. Rooms were spacious, food was delicious. I would highly recommend staying here.

Booked last minute. Since the Yen is so weak my dollar goes along way. Executive corner suite was fantastic. Sort of a self check out thing that I needed help with, but the gentleman was helpful. Wasn't sure on daily service but got back to my room after a very long day and it was emaculate. Even my sweater was neatly folded. Combini on the third floor is you don't feel like going out. Second night I didn't so I popped in for a sando and chips and some beer. Sat out on my deck and enjoyed the harbor. I really enjoyed staying there. In the morning a cruise ship was coming in and was fun to sit out having coffee while they quietly pulled in to my right. If I wasn't looking wouldn't have even noticed they pulled in. Great park and very walkable for tons of food options.

Excellent location. Unique hotel with impressive design. Extremely clean. Ocean view rooms are worse the price. Very accommodating staff. The breakfast buffet is excellent and appealing to everyone.

We really enjoyed the view of the ocean from our room. The front desk staff was very helpful in suggesting restaurants and things to do in the area. The room was very clean and it was quiet. I would stay at the hotel again!

Very nice property, room sizes were average for Japan. Great location on the waterfront, with nice views of the harbor.

Value for money. Well kept, clean, excellent service. Shuttle bus to train station an added bonus.

Beautiful hotel in Kobe. It felt like I was on a cruise ship. Very convenient to shopping. Wish I stayed here longer I loved being in Kobe. Breakfast buffet was top notch!
