The staff is wonderful and helpful

Entire staff was extremely personable, hospitable and knowledgeable. The concierge desk gave us great recommendations, took care of our reservations and had great insights to every restaurant, museum and activity. Hotel location is excellent and the fact that it’s essentially an assemblage of canal houses makes it a unique and very charming property.

Excellent location, right in the heart of historical Amsterdam within walking distance to great restaurants and cultural sites. Our room was very clean and the breakfast in the garden setting was excellent. I would definitely stay here again!

Five star hotel, other than the fact that it is very confusing to navigate, and even when you get to your floor, you still have to climb multiple staircases to get to your room in some instances. Even with signage, we got lost multiple times and couldn’t figure out where the alternative exits were until the end of our day. On the upside, the room was large for European room as was the bathroom. The amenities, including the umbrella and tote bag made a nice souvenir, and the concierge couldn’t have been more helpful. Location can’t be beat. Convenient to canals, Jordaan and Museumplein.

The hotel is great, fantastic service, food and proximity to the city center.

Great location, a classic hotel

This is an unusual but really lovely hotel , an amalgam of Amsterdam Canal houses, with a lovely garden at its heart. This latter is a special facility and most enjoyable on hot Amsterdam days when footpaths can get congested. BedRoom was snug but very comfortable and well equipped. Two people occupying it needed to consciously stay out of each other’s way. Staff were helpful and friendly. I have marked down on cleanliness because of a single incident - not the general run of cleanliness which is as you would expect in a well-run 5 star establishment. In the Garden, our enjoyment was upset by a teenager - accompanied by his father, both sitting opposite us. The teenager sat with the soles of his boots up on the cushion covers he was sitting on. This was without any consideration for who might sit there after him and what might have accumulated on those soles after walking around the city. The staff member who was taking their drinks order had the opportunity to instruct the teenager to remove his feet from the cushion. He did not. So I felt incumbent on me to do so. The father agreed with me but was otherwise obviously ineffectual. Management should instruct their staff to ensure that guests respect and don’t abuse the hotel amenities and show consideration for their fellow guests. Just basic good manners. Other than that, a lovely stay.

Very well situated. Clean and quiet. Love how they kept the facade and did not make it stand out like a sore thumb. Great job.

We had issues with the room but after some negotiation they were very accommodating and provide more than ample compensation which made the stay very enjoyable, would recommend to a friend.

The property was in a wonderful area of Amsterdam.

Absolutely unique property and very lovely room in a wonderful location. Perhaps a few amenities would have made our stay 5 Star, such as an in room coffee maker ( The French press was a disaster and coffee tasted like mud.) An in room mini fridge would have been helpful to chill the complimentary waters. Bathrobes would have been greatly appreciated to go along with the lovely slippers. The staff was exceptionally nice.

Great hotel in one of the most charming cities in the world

Perfect place !

Overall, this is a very nice hotel. It would’ve gotten a higher score except for the fact that they don’t answer the phone. We called many times looking for a room service for other questions about amenities and potential outings, but mostly got their hold recording for extended periods of time. This was both in the middle of the day and late at night. They clearly don’t have enough staff to answer the phone anytime they matter. Our average hold time was approximately five minutes. Song would’ve been longer, but we just got fed up and hot the phone. To me, and a five star hotel, that is totally unacceptable.

Best hotel in Amsterdam. Just wish the food was better in the city overall… not just at this hotel. The bar is wonderful and has great drinks and snacks. Breakfast is great too. Lunch and dinner are trying too hard and just not great…
