One of the my favorite hotels on month-long trip to New Zealand. After hiking 6-hour Tongariro, the expansive hot tub-pool at Powderhorn was just what the doc ordered. Laundry room on the floor a plus -- and hotel dining facilities (for dinner and breakfast) were very good.

Probably the best you can get for the area, but the wear and tear on this place is hard and the maintenance is lagging. If your expectations are not set at high end resort levels you will probably not be disappointed.

Loved the hot spa, unfortunately the temperature wasn’t hot enough a few of the days we stayed there.
The pub was amazing, nice open fire, area for the kids to play and great food!

The aesthetic appeal of the establishment is quite pleasing, and the surrounding area is aesthetically pleasing. The Powderkeg restaurant and bar provided an exceptional and extraordinary experience. The staff demonstrated exceptional professionalism and provided outstanding service.
The only significant concern is the pricing structure of the mini-bar, which may be considered excessive.
