Desk was not aware of our reservation through Expedia. He spoke no English. He asked if I had "cancelado" the rooms reserved. I said I did not, thinking he meant I cancelled the reservation for the rooms. He called his manager about our Expedia reservation. The manager was to check with Expedia and after a long wait he called back. The desk clerk said we could have the rooms which were unusually painted with murals and local sayings. We had to move rooms twice to find ones that had the A/C working and away from the very noisy flapping loose roofing next door. The staff and family were so friendly and helpful it made up for some of the shortcomings. When they presented us a bill for the rooms , we paid with my niece's credit card so she collect more points on her card.We got a receipt for the rooms for the one night of June 16,2014 with number of 0941 under my name Aurora Cervantes Sullivan, Expedia billed my credit card too. How do I avoid a double payment for these rooms?

All the fancy lighting in the picture is fake. In reality the room was pretty run down and didn't even have a lamp on the nightstand.
Back to the first problem, the hotel staff member could not find my reservation and for twenty minutes I stood their trying to show him my reservation details while he asked me to pay again! A conversation over the phone with the manager finally resolved it and I was given the key for the room.
Another staff member was even less helpful when I asked about where to go for lunch. The surrounding neighborhood is very dull, with not a lot of businesses or restaurants. The girl at the desk, rather than deal with my limited Spanish choose to yell at the top of her lungs at the guy mopping the floor in the back and then went back to playing on her phone. Eventually I found the local mall on my own after walking around randomly in the heat for 30 minutes
Oh, be careful with your camera around there. I took a picture of the hotel and some police came and interrogated me. Apparently there is something across the street they don't like people taking pictures of. For about 20 minutes they were treating me like they were going to take my camera, but eventually they let me go.
Not having a good time, I left a day early, so I guess they got a free night off me. I wonder if they noticed.
