Scandic Neptun

An interior designer had the hotel spend a lot of money on big sliding glass doors and fancy plumbing for our room without a real understanding of how people would live in the space. There were no outlets in the bedroom at all so you couldn't charge your phone by your bed. The glass shower door reached all the way to the ceiling so when you close it there is no ventilation at all, and by the next morning the shower smelled like death. There was a big soaking tub but no plug, and when I asked for one at the front desk, they promised they would send one up but never did. The square toilets are better for looking at than for doing one's business. The wardrobe is black inside and out and not well lit from in front so it's almost impossible to see your own clothes in front of you. The light controls are the same color as the walls so they blend in, which simply makes them hard to find, especially black on black. Perhaps most vexing, the head of the bed was against the wall facing the hallway, and it's a thin wall with no sound insulation. So when drunk noisy people careen through the halls at 3:00 a.m. it sounds like they're in the room with you. The people who work there are kind and helpful, and the breakfast is excellent, but the architecture is practically hostile to the guests.

Our stay in the hotel was great and we will consider staying here again in the future. The location is walkable to the train station, and is close to the harbor. The breakfast quality was a nice surprise where everything was delicious and they had gluten free options. A comfortable bed was a great relief since I’m very picky with support and bedding softness - I slept great!

The mini-fridge is almost blocking the door as it was outside the cubicle. The toilet flush was broken. Water is continuously flushing and we had to reflush as it gives a loud annoying sound. The only thing I like in this hotel is the location.

Elevator can be improved

Great location and good service but had some issues with the clean services. Cleaning Staff came in on day 3 of our stay. The staff trashes our plastic bags, water bottle and food that was set aside for the evening. I am hoping it was by accident but staff should be instructed to take away things that are in trash or set aside specifically to be trashed.

Good location to fish market and piers, but not good for bus stops and trains and main square. Place was clean, breakfast looks worth the extra money. Only issue was with shower and flooding the bathrooms.

Terrible hotel and surly staff. I would urge people not to book into this hotel.

Excellent hotel large comfortable room large clean bathroom with piping hot water for bath good location very central excellent value especially considering high prices in Norway spectacular breakfast the best I have ever seen with all tastes catered for! thoroughly recommended.

Shower floods the bathroom, not outlets for power, and lights are dim in bathroom. Bed was just 2 twins that split in the middle. Other than that the place was good.

The restaurant and bar weren’t open in June. The rooms had no working phones although there is an elevator, the lift doesn’t go to all the rooms requiring you to go to one floor then drag your luggage upstairs to get to your actual room. There were no bellmen. Very disappointed, although the location was good with a very short walk to the waterfront and fish market.

This is a great location -very central to the city. Everything is walkable. Especially close to the main warf.

I have a nice and spacious room. The breakfast has various selections. The hotel's location is very near the Bryggen, Fish market, shopping center, tours' meeting points, supermarkets. It only takes me 4 -5 minutes walking to these places.

Not really wheelchair accessible at all. Steep ramp up to the main door and 2 automatic doors close together to navigate quickly through. A wheelchair user on their own would have great difficulty. Bergen itself is not wheelchair friendly. On the plus side, the accessible room we were allocated was perfect and had a balcony with nice views. The restaurant downstairs (part of the hotel?) had no toilets and you had to climb stairs or go out into the street and back into the hotel itself. Breakfast was excellent.

This property is right off on a main shopping area with high end stores. 6 min walking distance to main attractions all around Bergen. Parking is right behind the property. Staff is brilliant and very helpful. Shoutout to KATINKA who at midnight helped me call and book taxi service for an early morning flight. My only complaint would be the bed. Pillow situation is terrible. Bergen is gorgeous place to be. Local Norwegian are lovely and helpful.

The upside was that the hotel was located near the fish market and was conveniently near the metro station. Our room needed some updates as the paint was peeling off the ceiling. The carpet seemed dirty. The beds -2 singles that we pushed together - had thin little mattresses on them. But the down comforters were warm. The attached restaurant had the same issue with needing repairs on the ceiling and the hand rail had come loose from the wall. Wouldn’t highly recommend this hotel.
