Lovely hotel with some warts!
Good-service, food, setting, ang general ambiance were all excellent. Not so good- rooms small, towels a mess???, lighting in room inadequate, amenities generally3star. Location of hotel rather seedy although fairly close to airport.

Back too the future
I really like the Victorian feel of the Hotel. Nice high ceilings and nice hard wood floors. Very nice glass shower with very clean room. bed was very comfortable. The room was very big with beautiful curtains. Food was very well prepared and very good as well. People where were very nice and polite. The Henry was a joy to stay in and you won't regret it .

Romantic oasis in the center of Manila.
We arrived in this hotel and were presently surprised about the atmosphere and beautiful kept rooms from the 1940`s. This hotel does not only have style but class. The restaurant offers a top menu of gourmet meals and nice wines. There is a beautiful garden and pool area, Highly recommendable for couples who want to spend a a few days busy Manila.

Disappointing and noisy
I really wanted to love this hotel and had been looking forward to my 3 night stay here as it is a lovely looking place and had received great reviews. Unfortunately I didn't for the following reasons: 1. The room I had on the first night was very close to the (very busy) main road and the honking and beeping from the traffic outside could be heard all too clearly. Due to several back to back early mornings and the need for sleep I asked for a change of room. This was provided, but unfortunately my new room was next to some sort of generator, so again had noise going throughout the night. However, this was an improvement on my first room and I was by now too exhausted to request another room change. 2. The staff at the front desk, while providing the help requested, gave the impression that they were doing so under great duress and that they had been interrupted from doing something far more important. The often supercilious attitude was probably not intentional (I assume) but it left a nasty impression. A complete contrast to the friendly service provided at the sister hotel in Cebu. While not a major issue, the towels at the Henry Hotel Manila have seen better days. They were grey but perhaps used to be white and very worn. The worst towels I have ever seen in a hotel and a bit odd in a hotel that is classed as a 4*. Finally, the area around the hotel felt quite run down and there is nowhere to eat/drink/see within walking distance. It is possible to take a taxi to places as they are very cheap in Manila but depending on the time of day, you can spend a lot of time sitting in traffic / waiting for a taxi.

Old World Glamour
A private retreat within the frenzied city that's Manila. Love the towering trees, spacious garden and preserved building structures. Kids will love the pool but water is too cold. We got a suite room which opened to a private garden. It was exquisitely designed with a couch good for another sleeping person. My peeves: reception staff are lacking friendliness & warmth. Food in restaurant is also too expensive for locals
