ibis Edinburgh Centre Royal Mile

Close to railway station and city centre.

We booked a twin room for our 3 nights/4 days visit to Edinburgh. The room was compact, but clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful, welcoming and friendly. The self-service breakfast was available until 10.30am and there was lots of it. The hotel is very central, less than a minute's walk from the Royal Mile. The main attractions such as Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, Scottish National Gallery, etc are all within easy walking distance of the hotel. There are also plenty of restaurants and bars a few minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel is a short walk from Edinburgh Waverley Train Station. If you are carrying luggage its easier to walk along the bridge than up the stairs of Fleshmarket Close, which are long and very steep!

Stayed here for a conference at the University and my spouse came along. The room felt like a glorified dorm room and the bathroom was very small and had an odor. I would not recommend.

The staff was fun and helpful. They gave us a couple of good recommendations for the area.

Location was fantastic right off Royal Mile, across from Tron Kirk market. Breakfast was decent (extra cost) good restaurants nearby, including a pub behind that keeps loud and late hours!

Hotel was in a great location for walking to all the tourists attractions. Clean room and just the right size for a couple for three nights. Only downfall is the room didn’t have good ventilation and the air conditioner didn’t work. Room seemed to get hotter at night and only relief was to leave the window open, but it can only open a couple inches. This made for early morning wake ups since the construction noises started at 5-6 AM. Besides that the staff was great. Bar stayed open until 4 in the morning. Had a breakfast buffet, but we didn’t eat there. They do give 5 pound vouchers that can be used by towards drinks if you choose to not have your room cleaned daily. We did enjoy the room. It’s not fancy, but was efficient for our short stay. The location is truly the crown jewel on this one.

Great mid priced property. Location for sightseeing is super. Well maintained and decent size rooms. Bar and lounge area on site and close to restaurants in old town. I didn't mind there was no air conditioning but it will be noisy especially with open windows. The bar goers will yell and construction starts early. Loud bangs that go on very early. Bring earplugs to stay here.

The bed wasn’t comfortable. The mattress topper wouldn’t stay in place

Súper expensive and physically not up to Ibis standards. Needed a shoe horn to get into the bathroom and nowhere in the bathroom or main room to put anything - no desk.

Breakfast was good, and hotel location was great

This was my second stay at this hotel. Good size room, comfortable bed. Lovely staff, all very helpful.

It's a great location for food, transportation and entertainment. However, the room was a disappointing - it was very stuffy hot and the bed was not comfortable. Also, I could not figure out the staff... at times they acted like they are bothered by answering basic questions. If this does not bother you, it's a great place.

The room was clean but the guest bathroom could have been better 😭

Clean room, appreciated upgrade, the staff are wonderful. The location is very useful. Suggestions-include a Kleenex box, a facecloth with the bath towel would have saved using non compostable face wipes, change the breakfast at least a bit from day to day. Staying here multiple days gives the exact same items every morning. Again the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.

The location is great, located right at the Royal Mile and on a major bus line. Staff was very helpful.

Staff very helpful, bed comfortable. Room in poor condition: light bulbs out, no nightlight, no space for 2 suitcases in twin.

Carpet was a little on the dirty side.
