not great
Despite decent to good reviews, my experience fell short. Unfortunately, as I was just passing through, I only had one night, so there wasn't any opportunity to change my impression. I was in a pretty small room, which can be expected as I was traveling alone. There was a large window but it looked directly across a short space into someone else window, so I didn't feel comfortable keeping my curtains open. The upside was the mini-bar, which I took advantage of since I arrived at a poor time in the afternoon to find food...a big problem for hungry hikers! The bathroom was a good enough size and well appointed. The bed was comfortable enough, however, it didn't matter how comfortable the bed was because of the noise down below my window as someone was power washing some type of equipment at 11:30 at night. It was a poor night's sleep. Breakfast was adequate. The man who made my coffee was lovely, but I found the desk attendant to be rather bland. I'm not hard to please, but I do appreciate friendly people and a good night's sleep!

Grest short break
Comfortable stay, good sized rooms, fantastic location, very friendly helpful staff. Confortable large double bed - on the hard side which suited us perfectly. Tea and kettle provided on request. Good breakfast and we were allowed late check out at no extra cost.

Latest Update September 2017
First, the good news. The works to the promenade at Llafranc have been completed and very smart they are now (eventually) and criically important to the hotel. Also, Ana-Maria has returned after a break of 4 years and Nasta after a serious injury. The not so good news is that Jose Maria (who runs the hotel) and his brother Carles (who runs the Llafranc restaurant) still seem to be at loggerheads. It should be noted that the hotel also has its own restaurant, La Placa, which is better than the one on the sea-front, but inexplicably closed down for the season in September without notice.

Top location.
We stayed here in August for a few days. The hotel has a terrific location and a terrific lady called Ana Maria on the desk who very helpfully sorts out all issues , gives good advice and would be an asset to any hotel anywhere. Our room was very good with a view over the square beside the hotel and on to the beach area. There is a sun terrace which has terrific views over the resort. The negative was the breakfast which was somewhat disorganised and not of the quality of other hotels in the area. A pity. We didn't dine in the hotel.

Very Disappointed!
I have to begin with saying that I usually go by Tripadvisor reviews before I decide where I want to stay. Inevitably they never let me down. The reviews are pretty much par to what I can expect apart from one or two occasions when I was let down by them. In the case of Hotel Llafranc I am afraid to say I was very disappointed and it appears to me that within Hotel Llafranc there are two hotels operating for different guests depending on who has been possibly going to the hotel over long periods of time and for people like us who are spending good money but nevertheless are not Regular Clients as in vacationing on an annual basis. So with that out of the way let me begin. The hotel looks presentable enough although there really isn't a place to lounge apart from two chairs at reception. Otherwise you would have to sit in the bar or at a small plastic table on the sidewalk (just the one). We requested a room with a sea view. And that is what we got. No balcony though. Room very outdated. Needs a complete overhaul. Brown furniture and closets. Reminded me of a nursing home. Two beds just pushed together that always came apart! The shower was rusty around the plughole and black around the tiles. It did not feel clean. The tiles needed a good wash down. Slim on the toiletries but more about that later. No tissues or extras provided. Basic. Okay the view was good. Compensation I suppose but the reviews....what about the reviews! I would not have stayed here if I had seen the room instead of reading the rave reviews. The toiletries appear to be different for some rooms too. We got the cheap variety while some as I saw on the cleaning staffs trollies Parisian shampoos etc. were provided to the other rooms? The staff were nice. Two were memorable. Anna in reception and Juan in the restaurant. Another young woman in the afternoons was sour and unfriendly. The breakfast were okay although the food should be covered from inquisitive flies. We had smoked salmon one morning but I never saw it again after that. I ordered eggs and bacon and the bacon was raw - could not eat. The coffee was good. The pastries are good if you are inclined to pastries and the fruit salad was fresh. Noise at night is a problem unfortunately so if you expect to sleep to the sound of the waves forget it as you will have to close your window to turn on air con. The area is beautiful but as I say it seems to be very much a locals kind of spot with anyone else seen as an outsider. Therefore I don't think I would go back. That's a pity really because diversity in the mix of tourists makes a place. Oh there is a terrace on the roof. Almost forgot to mention that but it is in a bad state. Needs TLC big time. It could be lovely but it is neglected. Too bad.
