Fort Heaven

Met by staff as I walked down pathway towards the lodging. Basic, clean, comfortable bed with air con & kettle, private bathroom. Great location near the ramparts & lighthouse. Good for price.

The location couldn’t be better, if you are seeking a quiet, out-of-the-way stay, yet in the center of it all. Heading down a narrow gravel alley, this quaint guesthouse is bright, spacious, clean and cheerful. The photos in the listing are quite accurate and reflecting the charm of this inn. My hosts were incredibly gracious and welcoming. Breakfast and tea are easy to linger over on the upstairs patio. I spent a glorious, unhurried hour up there with a book, and I could easily have dozed off that afternoon. The bedroom and bathroom are spacious and modern and clean, and the shower has good water pressure (And ample hot water.) A small wooden storage box on the bedroom wall contains a welcome addition: hot water heater for tea or coffee. Walking distance to everything you would want to see in town: the ramparts, bars, restaurants, gift shops, the temple, and the cricket stadium. About a 12-minute walk or 150r tuktuk from the train station. One minor quibble: western breakfast consisted of a whopping four pieces of white toast and two heaping bowls of marmalade and butter, together with one fried egg. I was really looking forward to a Sri Lankan breakfast, especially after smelling he host couple’s fragrant home cooking. If you are a westerner, specify a Sri Lankan option; otherwise it will probably be assumed you want a “western” breakfast. ... Just a fact, not a value judgment: The hosts’ younger child is 1 year old. His cries and shrieks may be part of your stay.

Staying right in the centre of town near Pedlar St in this very modern clean home was a delight. The bonus was the lovely couple who owned it. So generous and welcoming, including us in their festivities for New Year and preparing special Sri Lankan afternoon tea treats for us. Our attic room and sitting room were upstairs. The air conditioning was very welcome and the bed very comfy.

This guesthouse is tucked away within Galle Fort away from the main streets and away from traffic, but is easily findable with its signs. It is within walking distance to everything in the fort, so no need for tuk tuks everywhere. The rooms have a cosy/chic feel, and are well presented. Breakfast was toast, eggs and pancakes with tea or coffee. Family are really nice too, if I return to Galle I will stay here again :)

朝食のホットケーキとフルーツがとてもおいしい！ オーナー家族さんもアットホームでとても雰囲気いいです♪

Der Aufenthalt war super. Tolles, sauberes Zimmer mit Safe, Klimaanlage und schicker Dusche. Frühstück auf der Dachterrasse leider europäisch.... Also Toast mit Obst und Kaffee. Dafür klasse Ausblick. Die Lage ist traumhaft, mitten im Dutch Quarter. Wir würden es auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen!

Kan varmt rekommendera detta hotel/homestay. Ägs av en trevlig familj som ger god service, ligger i en gränd i södra delen av Inner Fort. Man får ett rum till ett bra pris med fräscht badrum och AC, i princip det du behöver för några nätter i Galle. Frukosten som serveras är västerländsk men snäppet bättre än de flesta andra :)

3泊分を予約していたが、チェックイン直前に1泊分を別途、追加予約して、計4泊した。……はずだったが、2日目から近くの全く別のゲストハウスに移らされた。オーバーブッキングと思われる。そのゲストハウスが格落ちで、ものすごく不満が残った。たまたま3日目から急なキャンセルがあり、ここに戻れた。清潔で、居心地がいい宿で、妙な引っ越しさえなければ満点を差し上げていたが、契約通りに部屋を使えなかったので、最低ポイントしかつけられない。せめて、同レベルの宿に引っ越せるか、相応の割引を受けられるかすれば、許せるが。。。オーナーがティッサマハーラーマまでのタクシー代9000ルピーを8000ルピーに割引してくれた時、いいレビューを書いてくれと頼んできたが、やはりオーバーブッキングの罪は重い。オーバーブッキングについては、事前に何のアナウンスもなかったし、オーナーは悪びれてもいない。この国の常識は、こうなのか？　ここに泊まるなら、そういうリスクがあるということを念頭に置いて下さい。

Living with a lovely family. The host is very nice and helpful. Guide for good restuarant and the transportation matters. The room is clean and comfortable with air-con and hot water for bathing. Breakfast with eggs, bread with butter and jam, fresh juicy and coffee or tea. Simple but enough for a good morning. Sure will stay again next time. Highly recommended.
