We enjoyed our 3 night stay at Bãren. Extremely helpful staff, clean room and bath, and good location. There was no traffic noise at night. We appreciated the coffee and sparking water service in the lobby. All in all, an excellent value.
It rained a bit when we were there. We found we could walk to the railway station without getting wet! A definite plus. When we needed an umbrella for our walkabout, the staff were happy to supply now.

We loved the great location! We walked to most attractions within 10 minutes. The several times a week markets is right around corner. It has washing and drying machines for people to use for free. It is very quiet at night and safe! Breakfast is very good with dishes carefully selected and prepared. Hotel provides free coffee and tea and great taste ice water all day. We will return to this hotel again and highly recommend this hotel.
Bern is full of history and culture—from the Middle Ages to Einstein and beyond! Well worth visiting!

First of all I can not recommend the breakfast buffet.
The Buffet area is so small and crowded and very poorly prepared.
I can not even find a simple banana or apple.
The location is conveniently located. However
the rooms are very small and there are also unexpected steps in the room.

Excellent location for shopping and restaurants and very comfy bed all at a reasonable price. Wifi good. Note however that room air conditioner not working while outside air is "fresh" according to staff, but room was a bit warm so we had to open windows. The only problem with that is the noise all night from the street. Which probably explains why the hotel provides ear plugs next to the bed.

This is a legitimate 2-star hotel. Whoever qualified it for a 4-star hotel made a joke. To start with, there is no refrigerator in the room. Not even a tiny one. The bedding is another joke. A pillow is about 3 cm (a little over an inch) thick, with nothing but lumps inside. I had to ask for 2 more pillows to get it to be of any neck support. I also had to ask for additional 2 blankets as the one provided was too thin. I had to use one of the blankets to cover the pillow stack so that I don’t feel the lumps. In the bathroom: no body lotion provided. No conditioner for after shampoo use. The single container in the shower says: Hand, hair, and body wash. Same container by the sink. No shower cap or vanity kit.
The overall look of the room—shabby.
Avoid by all means.
