A lovely property with friendly staff. No elevator or AC so if you need them beware.

Perfect place to stay. Although rooms don’t have A/C, we were provided a fan which was very much appreciated. Very clean, functional room with huge balcony with lake view. Parking is provided in garage at very reasonable price. When ringing doorbell a receptionist from the sisterhotel Villa Orsellina across the street comes over within a few minutes and helps with luggage and check-in. There is no elevator. Enjoyed a nice lunch at Villa Orsellina with fantastic view over the entire area. Hotel is only a few minutes from the cablecar station that takes you right into Locarno.

We have stayed in this hotel before. It's really convenient for us because of the location and that we can use the tennis court. We usually come to this area for a tennis tournament, so this hotel has been a great base for us. Breakfast is great, view from the rooms is fantastic, everything is clean. The only issue this time was a very loud celebration in one of the neighboring buildings, but it was only for one night. Also, many thanks to the hotel's team for helping us during our stay and also when we left in the room something important and had to come back to get it, it was much appreciated!

They asked to pay additional 100 franks to use kitchen utilities, though there is no such info at expedia, while booking. Not very convenient that check-in ends at 19:00. Breakfast was lower than average. No hot food.

Lovely room with fantastic view from balcony - lake & mountains during the day ... Stars & clear sky at night. Easy access with funicular to downtown Locarno - fun to join everyone running for the trip back to Orselina after the Piazza Grande evening film during the festival. Really convenient for taking the cable car up Cardada / Cimetta - lots to do at the top. The staff were really friendly & helpful ... I would really recommend this hotel.

La Barca Blu's staff is its strongest selling point. They are welcoming, knowledgeable and attentive. The rooms, perched on the hill above Lago Maggiore, all face the lake and have welcoming balconies. Ours had a kitchenette, sitting space and comfortable beds. The room was clean and bright. Breakfast (continental) is worth the price, as you will pay the same amount or more for a pastry and coffee nearby. The hotel is about 300m from the walk down to Locarno's famous monastery, as well as to both funiculars serving Locarno and the hilltop. Parking is 10 Swiss francs per day, whether you park outside or in the underground garage with its fun and funky lighting. There is no lift, so you will go up a set of charming circular stairs to reach both the reception desk and your room.

It's a bit out of the way and, unless you're fit enough to walk the steep hill up from the train station, you'll need to take public transit/car to get there. But the view of the lake is spectacular. Room also had a kitchenette and equipment for making meals. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Das Hotel liegt phantastisch auf dem Berg mit einem tollen Blick auf den See. Da meine Frau Geburtstag hatte, war das Hotel so aufmerksam und hat neben einer handgeschriebenen Karte noch ein Präsent ins Zimmer gelegt. Betten super bequem. Frühstücken gut. Wir kommen sicher wieder!

L’hôtel est propre, le personnel est sympathique, il n’y a pas de climatisation, pour le prix le parking pourrait être inclus. Les transports publics à proximité sont appréciés.

Gute Anbindung zur Stadt und Bahnhof mit Bus.

Es hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Das Hotel ist in Stadtnähe und gut zu Fuss erreichbar. Werde es weiterempfehlen.

The views from the rooms are all good. Everything else is average. For CHF 270 per day, you should be able to expect a firstrate experience. However several things disappointed us for our 6 day stay (which we could not change). First, there is no elevator and no assistance with heavy luggage (whichever room you have, you must climb stairs). Then there's the parking situation - the hotel does have a nice underground parking garage but it appears to be given to a hotel down the road; initially we had to park 100 meters up the road in another hotels parking on the street, but after complaining we were given one of the spaces near the hotel entrance (we were surprised to find a CHF 18 charge on our bill on checkout for this spot). The rooms are not very impressive - the bathroom is tiny and there is no air conditioning (just a noisy fan on the table) - the kitchen has a fridge and cooktop but no dishes or cutlery were provided, so that went unused. Breakfast was simple but adequate. The staff was friendly enough but we were not sorry to leave.
