Bamboo @ Kohchang Resort & Restaurant

Firstly readers should note that the Resort has recently had a change of ownership, so past comments should be read with caution. The resort (like the whole island) was very quiet but Value For Money. However it should be Noted that there is limited Car Parking and the road to it is narrow with sharp bends. But is situated in an ideal area near shops, Bars, massage parlours and Restaurants (Buffalo Bills is Highly Recommended). Two negatives (which I’m sure in time will be rectified) are the Rooms are serviced every other day, but Bottled water and Coffee are delivered daily, meaning soiled toilet paper, food waste etc remain in the bin for two days. Also there are no advertised operating times for the Restaurant and Bar, meaning that when we returned at 21:00 for a nightcap the Bar had closed because it was quiet. I cannot blame them for closing, but there was no advanced warning this may happen. All said and done it was a very pleasant stay and would happily return as we were treated very well.

On arrival we had to hunt for a person to check us in. The first impression was walking into a dirty office with a two feet high pile of dirty laundry. Room was ok very hard bed. Breakfast was not wonderful. The staff away not very friendly. Cleaning your room was two water and a roll of toilet paper. Room was never cleaned. Place needs some TLC.

Disappointing. When booking the site said parking was available and sadly there was only room for a few cars. We had to park on the street. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and breakfast was basic but good. Check-in was quick, however, there was no one in reception when we left so we just left the keys at the counter. In furure I would look for a better hotel.

Like: Waterfront property. Dislike: Some steep stairs had no handrails. Steps to beach uneven and too high. Not good for people with limited physical abilities.

We like mid-range hotels. Our first impression of this place was disappointing, but we soon warmed up to it. The staff were so nice, the location was excellent, the beach was 20 steps from our room, the food at the restaurant was sooooo good (except instant coffee at breakfast) and it was not on the main street so it was very quiet. The resort is a bit run down but we soon found that most of the resorts are. The pandemic has been hard on them all. A few things that we didn’t like (mostly first world problems): the room is so basic there’s not even a chair inside, no extras like hair conditioner or hair dryer, and no safe (so we used the lockers in the office). These are all things we could live with. The one thing that we really didn’t like is all the clutter and junk on the property. There are piles of old nets, broken chairs, rusty freezers and general clutter piled around. It really takes away from the quaintness of the property. For the price it’s a good stay. The pool was nice, the rooms were very clean, the restaurant was very simple but the cook was amazing (honestly had our best Thai dishes here), we could sit on beach chairs all day and not have to pay (but we did have to fight for shade in the afternoon). The sunsets were awesome and there were lots of choices for food or drinks within a short walk (either on the beach or on the street). Some resorts were by noisy bars but this place was so quiet…except for the sound of the surf.

It’s no too bad

Very nice, next to the beach, good food and friendly staff.

Stains on bed sheets, moldy smell in the room, cracks on the walls, junk laying around all over the resort, staff smoking in the kitchen, etc, etc. Every corner of the resort has old broken furniture, electrical equipment etc packed in the corners seemingly rotting away for years. Ko Chang doesn't have many good options in general, but this is not at all worth 2500 baht per night that we paid. The hotel is in desperate need of remodeling and upgrades. The only good things to say is: the location is right on the beach, and the staff are friendly enough.

Had to move room 3 times as the door locks didn't work on the previous rooms. Bed was rock hard and broken on one side. Good location though. Poor value for money overall as it wasn't cheap.

I think it does not worth my money. Location is OK but it is hard to access the entry. Besides, photos in website is exaggerate.

Location was great. Unfortunately that was kind of it. Beds were very uncomfortable and we woke up with a back pain everyday.

Good price/quality relatio. Nice place.

Hotellet låg direkt vid stranden, underbart läge. Slitna, enkla rum som dock hade det man behövde. Vi fick en extra madrass för sängen var stenhård. Bra priser för mat och dryck. Daglig bra städning. Servisen kan förbättras markant. Vi hade mat i kökets frys som vi ville ha ut kl 7 på morgonen, dom kom kvart över åtta, vilket gjorde att vi missade färjan. Svårt med parkering.

Worst eggs in history, noisy, no safe in room. Worst coustomer service i Ever witness in thailand

Fantastiskt läge, ligger precis vid stranden, trevlig chef. Stället är ganska slitet, kan behöva fräshas upp. Badrummet är slitet
