Everything was ok but the hotel smells like smoke. the WiFi was fast, meal was good and its clean. the room is however heard by other rooms next or beside to it. The swimming pool was averagely big and clean. The fitness centre was big and as well clean.

Just plain awful
The Duangtawan Hotel is a high rise with a great location, with a good breakfast selection, but that is where anything positive ends. It is really busy with lots of big tourist groups staying here. Getting a lift particularly in the morning, is impossible so the stairs are the only option. The rooms are really noisy, the beds hard and uncomfortable. The pool is nice but busy and impossible to get a lounge to relax on. Smaller boutique type hotels are everywhere and definitely better. We stayed here for 10 days, pre booked unfortunately. We won’t be back.

Business in Chiangmai
Duangtawan Hotel was a place that tourist needs to consider for staying when coming to Chiangmai. Its located near night Bazzar Anusarn market. Please book or reserved before coming to get a better deal. Breakfast was included and variety of foods as well.

The floor is softer...and truer
They say they are a 4Star hotel; NO IT IS NOT. 1. It's a strange mix of something weird and a hotel; not sure what the entrance is. 2. The bathroom is ridiculous, major trip hazard as you walk in, impossible shower to get into. 3. The bed is a solid rock mattress, no joke. Concrete is softer. 4. Really crap hotel. Really don't do it.

Accept The Shortcomings - This Will Work
Was probably a grand old Dame in her time but getting on a bit now and this shows. The cost of a remake here will put the room rates up and put this in a different price field. So as it stands now, balanced against picking this up at a good rate I see Duangtawan as my go to Hotel in Chiang Mai. Good location, excellent gym compared to other hotels, nice pool (but you have to chase the sun from noon onwards), good buffet breakfast, good room size (had both Deluxe and Business - won't bother with Business next time but was upgraded in this instance) and a rage of eating options within Hotel which other than breakfast I didn't use. Thought some Reception staff were unprofessional as upon arrival was simply greeted with "Passport and Credit Card" - like you can't say it as a request or add please, come on. Had a problem with the room safe being already locked and the resolve here became such a drama which went on for an hour plus ending in a room switch. As I was leaving the fix it man arrived with a crow bar, I didn't bother asking what was about to happen. Anyway my whole experience here left me with a poor impression with my start at Duangtawan but all was resolved finally by Ms Unchalee Jaitue, whom I publicly acknowledge with my thanks. No other problems with staff but it would be nice if their was a bit more focus on smiles and greetings, only the uniformed security guards out the front on the driveways were the only happy smiley staff. Elevators are painfully slow albeit there is an express lift which travels faster but that too can be under pressure at times. Suggest you avoid adjoining rooms as the connecting doors don't stop the sound as well as walls, heard the early morning activity from next door on two mornings and also people's personal conversation from other room. Hot water in shower struggled couple of times. This Hotel attracts large groups of Chinese tour groups and they can be loud and dominating at times so you can be unlucky on such times. Yes, it is old and tired, no denying that, but the good outweighs this issue. I will happily return here and do recommend. Lower your expectations and think in terms of this is now a three star plus place that was a four star.

Great location
Rooms were average. Staff were good. Good location. Had an issue with our first night where we didn't get the room we had booked for. Manager on duty at that time wasn't really helpful, but this was all sorted the next morning by another manager. Rooms need some renovation.
