- Backpacking
Nicely furnished room with antique looking cabinets and coffee table, as well as pictures with ornamental ivory colored carvings of older Thai culture. Hotel room is very large and has a separate bedroom unlike most hotels, altogether about 50 square meters. Also includes a microwave, which is not found in most hotels. Amusing front desk staff who are quite friendly although a bit slow as they tend to discuss things at length to make decisions. Computer center needs repair and WiFi/cable are very bad. Small swimming pool and nice refreshment bar in the lobby.

7.2
Nice but older style hotel with cool antique like cabinets and art. Large room with separate bedroom. Downside is lack of elevators especially on 3 &4th floor (actually 4&5th floor) as well as terrible WiFi and a total lack of English TV channels. Location is good and people are nice. They have a computer center but only 1 works.

Good location
Location is great just in new town but very close to old part. Easy walk to night market. We only stayed one night which was good as we didn't sleep well. Woken up too many times with fan/ air conditioning noise we had ours switched off. Room compact, no view and noisy fridge. Very clean and good shower. We were on 8th floor. Breakfast ok but would probably book elsewhere next time.

Good sevice and location
Maninarakorn Hotel is really good for families to stay in, and has very chilled, friendly looking rooms, although is like most other standard hotels. The pool is a nice environment to hang out in, and the actual hotel is quite central to Chiang Mai, which makes it easy to find transport and get to places. Good cleaning services, also with a coffee shop in the court at the bottom, near the main road and a shopping centre.

Budget hotel in good location near night market
This hotel is fine if you are on a tight budget. We stayed here a few years ago and it has gone down hill a bit since then. Stayed in the main building, rooms are in need of updating, some if the furniture is broken, there is a lack of lamps so it is dark. No safe in the room but there are safety boxes in reception. Bathroon is OK. We did get good WiFi unlike some other reviewers. Breakfast is pretty poor if I was staying here again I would take room only and get breakfast out. There are a couple of good coffee places right next to the hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful enough but English is very limited, they could not help with local trips. Having said all that the hotel is very convenient for the night market if that is what you are looking for.

Don't book for more than one day!!!
I've always done my best to give a proper review of places I've stayed and I wish I could give ZERO ratings for this hotel. They don't tell you online that there is NO ELEVATOR and that even if you are 70 years old, as I am, they will put you on the third floor and make you carry your luggage up the stairs WITHOUT ANY HELP AT ALL! Air conditioners only worked after they had to come and put new batteries in the temperature controllers but even after that, the temperature controller made no difference. It must have been preset at 30 below zero and the only way to be comfortable would be to turn it off completely. Yes, the room was very large but internet connection would have been better on Mars. Takes about 5 minutes to load any page so forget about trying to use skype to contact family. No plug/stopper in bathroom sink so forget about shaving or expecting hot water in the sink. Shower only had warm, not hot water. Lobby looks wonderful but rooms are very outdated. The only good thing about this place is the location which is within walking distance to most attractions. Staff is completely useless as well as attitude of front desk. Land of smiles??? I don't think so at this place. Unfortunately, we booked for 6 days but we're already planning on finding another hotel on the second day and willing to lose the rest of our money just to prevent a heart attack climbing the stairs to our room. Luckily for us, Chiang Mai is a wonderful city and has many interesting sights and activities for first time visitors. So, if you want to be pampered and feel comfortable in Chiang Mai, avoid this hotel. It will be a complete disappointment.

Clean budget hotel, good location
Nice looking clean hotel. I stayed in the main building 8th floor. I'll start with the less positive things: no hot water in the shower for the 4 nights i was there, and I tried different times of the day. The breakfast at 250 Thai Baht was kinda overpriced, I guess if you have it included it's ok but there's so many other places to eat. The pool area looked nice but the water was pretty murky so I stayed out. The good stuff: the hotel lobby is really nicely appointed, I hung out there a few times waiting for rides. Free wifi was fine, no issues connecting in room or lobby. The room was very nice, comfortable bed and a sitting area in front of the window. good little fridge, no A/C issues either. The price was certainly good. And very good location to restaurants and markets. If you want something just for sleeping and arent into the hostel thing, I would recommend.
