Cosy like a local
Walking distance to Wat Bang Kung where you can enjoy like a tourist. But when enter to the resort, it is like a garden home where you can stay like a local. Service was fair, breakfast was great, and the room itself was spacious and amenities were provided.

Near Bangkok
While I was traveling in Thailand I told my girlfriend that I wanted to see swimming monkeys and the market on the train tracks. So we booked a hotel near that area. This hotel. We had no idea what it would look like when we got there. We were pleasantly surprised. The grounds were very Lush and beautiful. The resort is right on the river. There is a restaurant at the resort as well as a coffee shop. I guess there's actually a second restaurant that serves breakfast. Breakfast comes free with the room. For about $30 a night US dollars , you can't beat this place. The people working there were all very pleasant and helpful. The rooms were very avant-garde and clean. We had a private patio where we drank a few beers at the end of the evening. At 6 a.m. monks would come by The Resort on riverboats. The locals would get them food and receive blessings from the monks. One of my favorite hotels I've stayed at in my 50 years on Earth.

Good hotel
Our travel agent booked this hotel because our first choice (baan Amphawa was fully booked. So we got the deluxe river view private villa. Nice view over the river. Room ok with large fridge. Bathroom ok but no hot water. Sunbed on our terrace bit to small for two europeans 😉more the size for small asian people. Food ordered at the reception which was brought to our private terrace. Very delicious. Staff very friendly but they speak very few words english. Booked also the fire flies tour which was cute.

Peace and Rest near the Riverside
Definitely ask for the rooms with a view of the river. This weekend hideout for Bangkokians is the perfect rural escape from the big city. With the old temple of Wat Bang Kung just down the road and the heritage market of Amphawa a short ride away, Reuan Panalee offers a bit more than just a place to watch the eddies and the river and a snooze in a hammock. The only real drawback is that the evening menu is quite limited. Best to have dinner in the market in Amphawa.

Wondeful resort along the Maeklong river
I stayed at the Ruan Panalee Resort while traveling with some friends from Thailand in mid May. The resort is located on the Maeklong River in the Samut Songkram area of Thailand, about 2 hours from Bangkok. The resort is small, tidy and interesting. I had a Grand deluxe river view room that had its own patio on the water. The amenities were modern, clean an comfortable. The air conditioning worked well (which was a HUGE plus in 40 plus degree heat). The grounds are beautiful and although you are very close to neighboring houses in the area, the trees and gardens do a great job to maintain privacy. You can hire a boat to drive you into Amphawa and surrounding area for a very small fee. We took a boat out at night to view the fireflies - an amazing experience! You can also get massages by the river for about 200 baht in one of the riverside patios. The breakfast is included and has items that will appeal to both Thai and Western taste buds. From a look at the website http://www.ruanpanalee.com/index.html it would appear that the group that I was with paid a much lower fee than is normal (about 1000 baht per night) . However, I think this is mainly due to the fact that we visited during the off season. I would recommend this property to anyone who wants to get a sense of "real Thailand". Would definitely return.
