I only gave it 4 stars because the room didn’t have ac and I am a hot sleeper. I didn’t find the fan until the next morning. The hot tub was great and the room was comfortable. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I would stay here again.

I rarely review properties, however NO ONE SHOULD STAY at Monterey Peninsula Inn without knowing exactly what to expect. Lady at front desk was friendly, however the room - which we paid $390 to stay for 1 night was BEYOND DISGUSTING!!! Ill-fitting screens, a musky smell, banged up and scuffed furniture, baseboards, doors, and walls, faded bedding, non-working lamp, missing basic amenities such as kleenex. A shower that CREAKED!?! and you feared you would exit dirtier than when you got in! When you walked from one room to the next (we had a "cottage") the items (old mugs / ice bucket) on the refrigerator shook to where we put them on the RING STAINED countertop (that we wiped down with our travel clorox wipes) for fear they would fall off and break. THICK COBWEBS in ALL CORNERS and on the window "treatments". I have photos and video to document all this and will post once I figure out how to load them. The surrounding grounds and outside of the structure were no better - DILAPIDATED is the only word we can come up with. Have been fortunate to travel all around the world and have been to the Monterey Coast many times, this place hands down is the worst! We seriously contemplated just sleeping in the car and would have found another place had we not already paid in full!

This facility was clean and had the necessary amenities. However the bed sits a little high for us shorter people and the in room coffee was not very good and rooms just a bit small. The staff was very accommodating. And property had added options that were nice( pool/ hot tub), small sitting courtyard and fire pit. Overall good place to stay

The Monterey Peninsula Inn is quiet and comfortable. The staff is friendly and responsive. We stayed in a room with a kitchenette so we could cook/store meals and eat out less often. The room doesn’t have AC or heating, but a box fan and portable heater are provided. To cool off the room we had to open the windows and slat the louvre shades (they were in okay condition and couldn’t be raised). The Monterey Bay Area is cool and foggy during the summer, so while opening the windows did cool the room we struggled to keep it at a temperature we liked especially at night when we closed some windows for safety, all the appliances worked well. The kitchen faucet was temperamental and leaked unless it was set just so. We used bathroom linens as dish towels weren’t provided. The neighborhood is quiet and is walkable despite the lack of sidewalks. Downtown Pacific Grove is a 29 minute walk to the East and the beach parks are a 10 minute walk to the West. A Monarch Butterfly overwintering spot is a 5 minute walk to the South. Despite some quirkyness, I would stay here again.

The staff were very friendly, the property was well maintained, clean, just a little dated but we don’t mind that. Area is in a convenient part of pacific grove. This place is a very affordable option, good for kids. We got an upstairs room that had a partial view of the ocean which was an added peek! Loved staying here and would definitely stay again.
