Beautiful Lodge with the nicest Lodge Host / Management. Rooms are very clean, updated and very comfortable bed. The surrounding area is very beautiful and has a great downtown with wonderful shopping and eating. I was here on business to get away from the city and relax. Can't wait to come back and bring the family for a vacation.

We stopped here for 1 night on our Californian road trip with our 4 year old. We felt like the only people staying here!! The bar and cafe were closed (despite the cafe sign saying it was open...) and it seemed like the shop was opened when the proprietor felt like it (not open during advertised hours). Luckily we'd eaten in nearby at Boulder Creek Pizza & Pub, but we weren't able to get anything for breakfast. The old swimming pool would be such an amazing selling point if it was in use - it was a shame to see it locked away. The room had everything we needed, including a fridge & microwave, and the staff we met were friendly. Beware when exiting the car park - its a blind corner and we were very nearly smashed into when leaving. A mirror would be handy

The front staff were great and super friendly. They made the check in super easy and quick. However, the room was not as clean as hotel rooms should be. There was hair in the shower/bathroom, the fridge was dirty on the inside. There were some daddy long leg spiders in both corners of the room but that did not bother us as we were clearly staying in the mountains. Overall, the cleanliness could have been better but it was in a very nice location, close to some yummy restaurants and other fun activities!

It’s a beautiful area but with live music Friday and Saturday night it makes for a not so relaxing time. The walls are thin so we could hear the music and neighbors stomping around and slamming doors both night. Even a dog barking below us. The bed was comfortable but the shower dripped and there was mold on the ceiling. Coffee maker was dirty.

LOUD, LOUD and LOUD stay away from this property. Aside from the unappreciated sassy attitude from the front desk this property is trash. Located on a busy highway the noise level is extremely high. We had the upstairs guests show up at 11 pm and walked around all night until 4:30 in the AM constantly turning on water (super loud). Needless to say we did not get any sleep. Huge mistake in selecting this property. I am convinced the guests above us were crack heads. Yup this is the type of property this is.

Everyone we encountered during our stay was friendly, but they’re extremely understaffed. Never anymore than one person working the lobby at any given time, so anytime they needed to step out to assist anyone, or take a break, the lobby would be locked and closed…with no one to answer the front desk phone should you need any help. We checked the hotel’s main website before booking and it mentioned “some” amenities may be seasonal, but it failed to inform that all bars and restaurants on property would be completely closed. They advertise a market on site and said it would be open every morning at 10 am upon check-in, which we thought we could make work for our breakfast each morning. However, every morning of our 3 night stay, the market was never open by 10. One day, not until after 11am. Needless to say, that never worked as an option for us for breakfast. When I checked at the front desk each morning about when the market would be open, I was met with, “they should’ve been open at 10am”. We then found out that they rent out that space to a third party who seems to make up their own hours. I understand this is an old property that has been undergoing renovations, but the outlet placements in the room are ridiculous and some don’t work. The microwave in the room was almost unusable due to that. Bring extension cords. Beds were clean and comfortable. Bathroom was another story, clearly never cleaned before us. Hair in shower and visible dirt all over the floor. Just meh. :/

Of course the history of this place is fascinating and it's just a wonderful Retreat surrounded by ancient redwood forest babbling Brooks and rivers and just quiet beautiful Serene setting. The rooms were clean neat and very comfortable and enjoyed the patio balcony and the ability to have the fresh air coming into the room

Friendly Staff however The place is falling apart. They never told me the old Lodge was condemn by the county until I got there. and "not even staff was allowed into the Lodge area". Nothing explaining this before I booked it. seems they're waiting to find someone to get in and foundation issues or whatever reason it was closed. We wanted to see the brook inside and hopefully experience the "Hauntings atmosphere". Problem we had: Concrete Stairs leading to second floor were cracked. Concrete stairs gave a bit and I only weigh 215 pounds. That scared us walking up and down the stairs in the rear unit area. the water was boiling hot. I mean I burned myself with it. scalding hot. They may want to turn that down a bit. Rooms were clean and the outside deck was very nice. maids were nice but the bathroom tile is super slippery as was the shower floor. They might want to put skid proof rugs in there rather than the bath matt. Only one set of towels given. most hotels double up on towels who want to take a second shower.
