Room was spacious and amenities good. I found my room very hot. Even with the window open. Also, on check out we were advised there is a ‘discretionary’ payment for the maintenance and housekeeping staff per night that didn’t sit well with me. I think you should be pre warned that you will be asked to do this as it’s quite embarrassing saying no and feels awkward that you are asked to pay towards the staff. If I want to pay housekeeping I leave money in the room.

Excellent hotel. The Francis is beautifully decorated, the staff are most attentive, the property is quiet, immaculate and very comfortable.

We had a wonderful stay in this hotel. The only slight annoyance was that we couldn’t get the air conditioning to work, so had to sleep with the window open, which meant that the gulls woke us up quite early in the morning. We were celebrating our birthdays and the hotel gave us a lovely plate of cakes to honor this! We skipped paying for breakfast because there are so many wonderful bakeries in Bath and the breakfast was on the pricey side. I still wouldn’t hesitate staying here again!

The location of the hotel couldn’t have been better, the rooms were clean and appeared newly decorated, in a style which complemented the age of the building. The staff were exemplary, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was fresh, beautifully presented and bountiful. We were very lucky with parking as they had recently reopened their car after a 1 years closure, this made everything very convenient. We are looking forward to further stays at The Francis Hotel in the future and would recommend it to anyone considering a stay there.

Great stay lovely place

The hotel is well located and easy walking distance to all the attractions. Service is exceptional in the restaurant and bar and really made the experience. As we settled in with cocktails before dinner, there was no rush to move through to the restaurant. The restaurant team were welcoming, informative and friendly. Food was incredible and overall a lovely evening.

We stayed at this hotel last year and loved it. But after the refurb, it’s even better. Also, it was my partner’s 50th birthday and they gave us a complementary bottle of Prosecco and 3 delicious little petit fours.

Nicely decorated Superior King room but on arrival it was quite chilly. There was a draught coming from the sash window and also some road noise - which I hate because I’m a light sleeper, and I’m very surprised there is no secondary glazing to stop the draught and reduce the road noise. The bathroom was nicely decorated but the tiled floor was cold underfoot - many high end hotels have underfloor heating these days but not here it seems. I did request a room change but I was told there were only ’staff’ rooms available - even though Hotels.com was showing 2 Superior King room available both before and after I’d asked !!! The breakfast room is very stylish and offered a typical choice of food. Lovely hotel but having had a recent makeover it lacked some attention to detail. I enjoyed my previous stay here, a couple of years ago, a lot more.
