When we checked in, the girl on reception had a face like a wet weekend in Warsaw and was borderline rude; she couldn't of cared less if we were there or not. Although now retired, I taught Hospitality Management for over 25 years and understand that the reception desk is the hotel's shop window and that first impressions really do count. Not even a good afternoon or hello, nice to see you , welcome to the County. Definitely a training deficit here to be remedied.

It’s not the Ritz but it’s also not a park bench. Hotel is fine, just needs a renovation. More like a YHA than a hotel.

An old fashioned hotel renovated on a small budget. Did not try the breakfast. Nothing special.

If you’re wanting a quiet hotel, this isn’t it. The night life outside went on till 4.30 in the morning, if your young fare enough but if your passing and want quiet, it’s not good. But it was a Saturday night, it might be different throughout the week

Convenient parking. A number of useful places to eat nearby. Breakfast was freshly cooked but missed some essentials (fried egg, black pudding, fried bread....). Staff were friendly and helpful.

Great for a bargain overnight stay for a single person. Bed was comfy, carpet was new, everything was clean and I'm happy to know I've stayed in one of Carlisle's historic buildings in such a central location. Man on reception was polite and helpful, manned all night, and as I left in the morning breakfast area looked inviting. Overnight parking on the street wasn't too far away, unlimited between 6pm and 8.30am.
