Charming old world hotel with friendly staff and a good spa

Historic building, great friendly staff & customer service. We were upgraded to a 4 poster room which was lovely. Restaurant evening meal & breakfast were both great. We loved the bar

The ambience and the look of the place was impressive. Service was excellent and staff were exceptional.

Everything was easy and nothing too much trouble we felt so at home and comforatble with its ancient historic charm

Lovely spa and cosy hotel, room was a little chilly and on the smaller side as had sloped roofs but otherwise would return.

Really beautiful property and grounds. Dog friendly which was a HUGE plus, they also left out bowls, a dog bed and a chew treat - much appreciated! The room was cosy and bed was very comfortable. Dinner in the bar was good, the only slightly strange thing is there is no music played anywhere in the restaurant or bar meaning that the ambience is really strange! Not necessarily a judgement but it was very noticeable how uncomfortably quiet it was. The spa is lovely and gym is small but adequate!

Great hotel, clean, comfortable, great food selection cooked beautifully and the staff are polite and friendly. I could not ask for more.

The name of the hotel says it all Spread Eagle there were lots of communal areas dotted over the hotel very comfortable.

Beautiful, very old hotel, with all the character retained. Lovely pool and spa. Great staff.

We stayed in four places whilst walking the first half of the South Downs Way, the other three were pubs with rooms and all three were much better than here - more attentive and friendlier service, nicer and more modern rooms and significantly better food and yet this place was twice the price.....
